The Bulldog Connection
October Newsletter
Principal's Corner
It’s hard to believe that we are already a quarter of the way through the 2026–27 school year! The past few months have been busy and filled with exciting opportunities for our students, faculty, staff, and community. We are especially thankful for the tremendous school and community engagement during Homecoming Week and at the many events held at Georgetown High School. Your continued support and involvement help make GHS a special place to learn and grow. I encourage you to check out the many events, programs, and resources available at GHS. Our weekly “Sneak Peek at Our Week” on social media is a great way to stay informed about what is happening around campus and get a snapshot of the learning in action.
As a reminder, Quarter 1 ends on Monday, October 5. Please take a moment to review your student’s grades and attendance in PowerSchool and encourage your student to finish the quarter strong. As we look ahead, please take note of our upcoming Fall Break from October 12-16. We hope this time provides our students, families, faculty, and staff an opportunity to rest, recharge, and spend quality time together. Thank you for your continued partnership and support of Georgetown High School. We are especially thankful for the partnership you provide at home as we work together to support and encourage our Bulldogs.
Go Bulldogs!

Ms. Eppolito's Art Class Participated in a Nationwide Art Project!
My America
Last year, Ms. Eppolito’s art classes participated in My America, a nationwide, youth-driven art and civic engagement campaign that encourages students to honor our past, reflect on our present, and inspire our future.
We’re excited to see the finished product in December and can’t wait to spot our GHS students’ artwork! We’re so proud of their creativity and the opportunity they had to be part of such a meaningful project.

AVID in Action
The Power of Positive Relationships
If you know Mrs. Sombria, you know that she is a beacon of light at GHS. She is always so positive, so humble, and greets everyone with a smile. Her positive presence allows her to form healthy relationships with her students. At our Mutli-Cultural Celebration, Mrs. Sombria and Emory Moyer sang a beautiful duet to a Filipino song. Emory practiced diligently because she wanted to do a great job for Mrs. Sombria. Relational Capacity is at the base of the AVID Framework for a reason. In the words of Patrick Briggs, “You don’t get to Bloom’s without going through Maslow first.”
Great job ladies and go Bulldogs!
Navy JROTC Drill Team
Our Navy JROTC Drill Team recently competed in our first sanctioned drill competition of the season, which included teams from Area 6 and Area 7. From the 9 schools that competed, the Georgetown Bulldogs placed in the top 3 in all 8 events, including Personnel Inspection, Unarmed Regulation, Unarmed Exhibition, Armed Regulation, Armed Exhibition, Color Guard, Academics, and Physical Training.
From the schools attending, the Bulldogs finished 2nd overall, only falling behind a school that has been to Nationals for the last 5 years. However, our drill team finished 1st in our Area and is the Number 1 seed heading into the championship in February.
All of the teams and commanders did a phenomenal job. Noteworthy performances were Logan Hernandez, who finished 1st in the unarmed knockout drill competition, and Jhair Hernandez (a freshman), who was the top performer for Georgetown on the Academics test.
Please join us in congratulating our Navy JROTC Drill Team for representing our school with honor, courage, and commitment
3rd Annual AVID Day
On Friday, September 18th, GHS celebrated its 3rd Annual AVID Day by hosting our AVID Draft and signing. Twenty-five new AVID Elective students signed their AVID contracts affirming their commitment to college, career, and life readiness. Our returning AVID students gave them a warm welcome to the team by cheering them on. We can't wait to see what these students accomplish!
