CAVALIER Chronicle

It's a Great Week to be a Cavalier!😉
Happy Sunday Cavalier Families!
We hope you have had a good 3-day weekend and were able to spend some quality time with those you love!
On Tuesday, our students will take the STAAR Math test. We are so proud of the hard work they’ve put in all year to prepare. Please help your child be ready by ensuring they get a good night’s sleep, eat a healthy breakfast, and arrive at school on time. Your encouragement goes a long way in helping them feel confident and focused!
Then on Thursday, we’re thrilled to host our Month of the Military Child Carnival as we celebrate and honor our military-connected students. It will be a fun-filled evening of appreciation, games, and community as we recognize the unique experiences and strength of our military families.
Thank you, as always, for your partnership and support. If you have any questions or need support, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We are looking forward to a Cav-tastic week with your students!

We still have a number of students that are not being picked up after school in a timely manner. The expectation is that students will be picked up when school ends at 3:30PM unless they are involved in an after-school activity. If they are in an after-school activity, they should be with a teacher or sponsor until they are picked up by a parent/guardian. If your student cannot be picked up at 3:30PM, we do have offer the Boys & Girls Club every day until 6:00PM. It is a free service and all you need to do is fill out the application online (see link below). Please ensure that your student is picked up immediately when school ends or that they have a membership to the Boys & Girls Club.

April is Stress Awareness Month, a time to recognize the impact that stress has on our lives and take steps to manage it effectively. In today’s fast-paced world, it’s easy to become overwhelmed by the demands of school, family, and other responsibilities. However, ignoring stress can lead to a variety of mental and physical health problems.
Purpose
-
Raise Awareness – Educate people about the impact of stress on mental and physical health.
-
Promote Healthy Coping Strategies – Encourage individuals to adopt effective stress management techniques.
-
Reduce Stigma – Help people feel more comfortable discussing stress and seeking support.
-
Encourage Workplace & Community Support – Highlight the importance of stress-reducing initiatives in workplaces and communities.
-
Empower Individuals – Provide tools and resources to help people take control of their stress levels.
Ways to Reduce Stress
-
Practice Mindfulness & Meditation – Engage in deep breathing exercises, meditation, or yoga to stay present and relaxed.
-
Exercise Regularly – Physical activity helps release endorphins, reducing stress and improving mood.
-
Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle – Eat a balanced diet, stay hydrated, and get enough sleep to support overall well-being.
-
Set Boundaries & Manage Time – Avoid overcommitting and prioritize self-care to reduce overwhelming situations.
-
Connect with Others – Talk to friends, family, or professionals for emotional support and stress relief.

Drop-Off & Pick-Up Map for Cars and Buses
Please notice the drop off and pick up areas for cars at CPMS. For the safety of our students, please do not drop off in the bus loop.
Parents/Guardians should only be driving in the yellow area indicated on the map.
The red area is for buses only. Parents who enter the red area are putting students and staff at risk as there is limited visibility when buses are present.
We appreciate your support in enforcing the KISD Student Code of Conduct!
Student Code of Conduct cards were sent home this past week. Please make sure that you have read over the SCOC so that you know the expectations for behavior.
Student Code of Conduct Updates
Electronic Devices and Pouches – Secondary students will maintain their phone, and all communication devices, in a locked pouch during the school day.
E-cigarettes/Cigarettes
1st Offense Violation:
Students will be assigned one day of ISS and one day of Saturday School. Secondary Students will attend at their home campuses (the curriculum will be provided for all students who attend for cigarette/e-cigarette violations).
If the student fails to attend ISS, Saturday Detention and/or complete the lessons, a due process hearing will be held with a recommendation for DAEP placement for 10 days. Students will be allowed one make up opportunity to complete Saturday Detention.
2nd Offense Violation:
A due process hearing will be held with a recommendation for DAEP placement for 20 days.
Consequences for School Bus Violations:
For school bus safety violations, and for serious violations, as defined in this document, that happen on the bus, the 3rd bus offense shall invoke at least a temporary removal (possibly a permanent removal), and the 4th offense will invoke a bus suspension for the rest of the school year. For students attending a DAEP, the 2nd bus offense will result in permanent bus suspension for the time the student is placed in DAEP; any flagrant bus offense prior to the 2nd violation may result in immediate bus suspension. Students who fight on the bus will be suspended for three days. If after a thorough investigation, fighting is confirmed, then the students involved will be removed from the bus for 30 school days. Under severe circumstances the Director for Transportation Services reserves the right to implement temporary or permanent bus suspension at a date earlier than prescribed by this regulation.
