7 Weeks until EOGs
Mock EOGs this week
We now have only seven weeks remaining until End-of-Grade (EOG) assessments and we have a busy week ahead with report card distribution, Q3 PBIS rewards, and mock EOGs for grades 3-5 starting on Tuesday. The mock EOGs will be an important practice for the real EOGs that start at the end of May. If your child is in grades 3-5, please make sure that they bring all laptops and chargers to school tomorrow so that we can ensure that they are working and charged for the mock EOGs. We are seeking volunteers (18+) who would be willing to be a proctor for this week's mock EOGs. If interested, please contact Principal Batten, AP Erica Evans, or the front office.
This week's end-of-grade assessment focus will be on increasing focus and stamina during reading and on curriculum vocabulary. Families can help support this week's focus by encouraging your child to read for at least 20 minutes each night and begin making vocabulary flash cards for reading, math, and science terms. For younger students, you can do the same with high-frequency words.
I am thankful to the students, families, and staff who work collaboratively to help our students grow and succeed. It truly takes a village and Tigers will CLIMB together. Let's have an amazing week focusing on academics and PAWsitive behaviors.

Community Read Aloud at Perry Memorial Library
New program on Mondays from 5:30pm-6:15pm, starting January 22nd. It is called "Community Read Aloud" and the idea is that youth will have a chance to read to a volunteer with the National Honor Society Students from the Vance County Early College High School. There is no registration required but folks can let me know they are coming by emailing mpeters@perrylibrary.org. We are hoping to foster the love of reading and support an encouraging environment for learning and reading out loud as everyone gets a chance to listen to themselves and others read.
