NC Check-Ins
This week, students will be participating in NC Check-Ins in Math, ELA, and 8th Grade Science. These end-of-year assessments are an important opportunity for students to practice skills and prepare for upcoming End-of-Grade (EOG) tests.
We encourage all students to arrive at school on time, well-rested, and ready to do their best. A positive mindset and strong effort go a long way in helping students show all they’ve learned this year!
Thank you for your support in helping your child come prepared and confident.

DC Stayback Trips
Each year, our school offers daily activities and trips for 8th graders who are not attending the Washington, DC trip.
On Friday, students staying back from DC were given a description of the trips and a permission slip. Please ask your child if you haven't seen this.
The cost is $30 for all trips and activities.
- Tuesday, April 28 - Retrocade
- Wed, April 29 - Bowling
- Thurs, April 30 - Mini Golf
- Friday, May 1 - Field day on campus.
Students will turn this into Dr. Stone on the 8th grade hall on Monday or Tuesday morning during Homeroom. Tuesday is the deadline. Students must have cash/check and the permission slip all at one time. For scholarship or financial hardships, please reach out to Principal Honeycutt or 8th grade Counselor, Christie Clarke.
If students do not want to attend these trips, they may stay back at school with a teacher.

Attendance Make-Up Begins
Attendance make-up opportunities are now available for students who have exceeded the allowable number of absences. Students are permitted up to 18 absences per school year. Any absences beyond 18 (whether excused or unexcused) must be made up.
Please note: There will be no summer school option this year, so all attendance make-up must be completed during the regular school year.
Attendance Make-Up Options:
- Wednesday mornings (before school): 6:30–7:30 AM
- After school (Monday–Thursday): 3:00–4:15 PM
- After-school bus: Available Thursdays only
- Community Nights: Students may also attend to earn make-up time
We encourage families to begin planning now to ensure all required hours are completed.
If you have any questions, please contact our school social worker, Emily Mitchell, or Principal Honeycutt.
