A Message from the Principal

Dear Highlander Families:

The week ahead includes the ASB sponsored Valentine's Themed Dance. It will be held on Friday, February 6th from 2:45pm - 4:00pm. All students are welcome to attend and must purchase their ticket in advance. ASB students will distribute permission slips and then collect signed permission slips and money during 5th period. No tickets will be sold on the day of the dance.

Monday is our third school site council meeting of the year at 3pm in Room I-8. All members of the community are invited to attend and the agenda for this meeting is in this newsletter. We will also host the Volleyball scrimmages at Hewes on Tuesday and Thursday of next week on the blacktop. Come out and support our student athletes, boys on Tuesday and girls on Thursday at 3:45pm.

This week counselors presented in 6th and 7th grade PE classes information about course selection for the 2026-2027 school year. Please speak with your student and review the presentations and registration found on the Hewes Website. Course selection forms are due to their Core Teacher on Monday, February 2nd. A detailed registration timeline for current 6th & 7th graders along with the high school registration timeline for our current 8th graders can be found in this newsletter.

Please stay connected to Hewes by checking our website and following us on Instagram @heweshighlanders for the latest information and news.

Highlander for a Day is a recognition program at Hewes Middle School that celebrates students for incredible moments of Winning the Day the Highlander Way. Students are recognized for working hard, including others, never giving up, controlling their responses, choosing to act above the line, and taking extreme ownership of their 20 square feet. These are the habits and mindsets that shape our Highlander culture, and we are so proud to share them with our entire school community.
