La Escuela Fratney families and staff came together for a beautiful evening at our Annual Multicultural Family Night! We loved seeing so many cultures represented and celebrated throughout the event. Thank you to every family who brought a dish, shared a tradition, or simply came to enjoy the night with us—your presence made it truly special. Music, delicious food, cultural displays, and joyful community connections. We are grateful to be part of a school where diversity is not only embraced, but celebrated.

¡Las familias y el personal de La Escuela Fratney disfrutaron de una noche hermosa en nuestro Evento Anual Multicultural! Nos encantó ver tantas culturas representadas y celebradas durante la velada. Gracias a cada familia que trajo un platillo, compartió una tradición o simplemente vino a disfrutar—su presencia hizo que la noche fuera realmente especial.La noche estuvo llena de música, comida deliciosa, exhibiciones culturales y conexiones alegres en nuestra comunidad. Estamos agradecidos de ser parte de una escuela donde la diversidad no solo se acepta, ¡sino que se celebra!

Last week we recognized one of our most involved dads, Brian Staehlin, on National Parent Involvement Day on behalf of La Escuela Fratney and Milwaukee Public Schools. Brian’s two boys attend La Escuela Fratney. He is there every day volunteering in the lunch room, passing out water, washing tables, sweeping floors and more. Most importantly he is greeting our students and being a positive role model for them! Thanks Brian! We appreciate all the hours you spend supporting our school community!

La semana pasada, en el Día Nacional de la Participación de los Padres, rendimos homenaje a Brian Staehlin, uno de nuestros padres más comprometidos, en nombre de La Escuela Fratney y las Escuelas Públicas de Milwaukee. Los dos hijos de Brian asisten a La Escuela Fratney. December will be a very exciting month at our school, with many learning opportunities and special events for students. Please take a close look at our December calendar, as the first week alone includes several important field trips: 3rd grade visits to the Urban Ecology Center and the Milwaukee Art Museum, 6th grade’s Urban Ecology Center trip, and 5th grade’s Junior Achievement BizTown experience. All of these trips are essential parts of student learning, and each child is expected to and must have a signed permission slip in order to participate.

Throughout December, we will also be conducting important Spanish literacy assessments and English language learner testing. It is especially important that your child is present and arrives on time each day so they are able to complete their assessments successfully.

Please remember that Wednesday, December 10th is an early-release day. Students will dismiss at 2:15 p.m., and there will be no CLC programming in the morning or afternoon.

During the third week of December, we will have a fun spirit week for students. Although we do not celebrate Christmas or specific holidays at La Escuela Fratney, we do host our annual tradition celebrating bilingualism, the Spanish language, and learning about traditions from Spanish-speaking countries.

There are always many ways to get involved in our school community—chaperoning a field trip, helping in the lunchroom, attending a parent or SEC meeting, and much more. We are grateful for your partnership and look forward to a wonderful month ahead.

Estimadas familias de La Escuela Fratney:

Diciembre será un mes muy emocionante en nuestra escuela, con muchas oportunidades de aprendizaje y eventos especiales para los estudiantes. Por favor revisen con atención nuestro calendario de diciembre, ya que solo en la primera semana tendremos varios viajes educativos importantes: las visitas de 3.º grado al Urban Ecology Center y al Museo de Arte de Milwaukee, el viaje de 6.º grado al Urban Ecology Center, y la experiencia de 5.º grado en Junior Achievement BizTown. Todos estos viajes son parte esencial del aprendizaje, y cada estudiante debe tener un permiso firmado para poder participar.

Durante todo el mes de diciembre también estaremos llevando a cabo evaluaciones importantes de alfabetización en español y pruebas para estudiantes aprendices del inglés. Es especialmente importante que su hijo/a esté presente y llegue a tiempo cada día para que pueda completar sus evaluaciones con éxito.

Les recordamos que el miercoles, 10 de diciembre será un día de salida temprana. Los estudiantes saldrán a las 2:15 p. m. y no habrá programación de CLC ni en la mañana ni en la tarde.

Durante la tercera semana de diciembre tendremos una divertida semana de espíritu escolar. Aunque en La Escuela Fratney no celebramos la Navidad ni otras festividades específicas, sí llevamos a cabo nuestra tradición anual en la que celebramos el bilingüismo, el idioma español y el aprendizaje sobre tradiciones de países hispanohablantes.

Siempre hay muchas maneras de involucrarse en nuestra comunidad escolar: acompañar un viaje educativo, ayudar en el comedor, asistir a una reunión de padres o a una reunión del SEC, y mucho más. Agradecemos su colaboración y esperamos con entusiasmo un mes maravilloso.

There will be one calendar for the whole district again this year. Please review this calendar before making plans for trips or vacations. Students must be in school 95% of the time or more which means they can only miss 1 day a month the whole school year. Students who miss more than 10 days of school a year fall behind academically and socially. Make a plan now to be in school every day on time.
