International Dot Day
Woodcrest Elementary School is excited to participate in International Dot Day on Monday, September 16th.
"International Dot Day, a global celebration of creativity, courage and collaboration, began when teacher Terry Shay introduced his classroom to Peter H. Reynolds’ book The Dot on September 15, 2009.
The Dot is the story of a caring teacher who dares a doubting student to trust in her own abilities by being brave enough to “make her mark”. What begins with a small dot on a piece of paper becomes a breakthrough in confidence and courage, igniting a journey of self-discovery and sharing, which has gone on to inspire countless children and adults around the globe.
Each year on International Dot Day – with the help of people just like you – the inspiration continues. What started as a story in the pages of a book is transforming teaching and learning around the world as people of all ages re-discover the power and potential of creativity in all they do."
Please have your child wear clothing with dots, circles, or wear their Woodcrest spiritwear on Monday, September 16th.
Arrival and Dismissal Reminders
Morning Drop-Offs
- Please pull cars up as close as possible to the main entrance so that multiple cars can unload simultaneously. Staff members are available to help escort students into the building as needed.
Do not pass or drive around cars that are in the drop-off line. This is a safety concern for families and students walking across the parking lot.
Please do not park in front of the main entrance during arrival. This slows down the drop-off line and presents a safety concern.
Dismissal Procedures
- Any changes to your child's dismissal procedure (e.g., if you are picking your child up instead of taking the bus) must be communicated to the main office and your child's teacher as soon as possible.
- When waiting to pick up your child, please do not approach the school building or look into windows. This can be alarming to the students and staff in the classroom.

To allow for families with students in multiple grade levels to attend meet their children's teachers, classroom Teachers will offer two sessions, both covering the same content. Families only need to attend one session. BTSN will be in-person only. We will not be offering a virtual option.
