Hello Wixom families!

It was another wonderful week at Wixom! In addition to our daily work as readers, writers, mathematicians, scientists and social scientists; two grade levels enjoyed learning beyond the classroom. Our first graders enjoyed a field trip to the Outdoor Education Center where they explored elements of nature, making observations of the world around us as Spring begins. Our third graders participated in an in-house field trip as we welcomed the staff from Huron-Clinton MetroParks for presentations on the People of the three fires of Michigan (Ojibwa Ottawa in Potawatomi).

On Saturday, the Wixom school community came together for the AmAzInG annual Spring Carnival. We are so grateful for the hard work of the MANY parents/volunteers that made this event possible. A HUGE shout to to Dana Marks for her work as chairperson of this event. Also, special thank you to the many staff members who joined in on this event as well.

I wish you all a great week!

Sincerely,

Kristin Froning

SHARE YOUR THOUGHTS WITH GOVERNOR WHITMER

Potential changes to the U.S. Department of Education could significantly impact Michigan schools, affecting funding for low-income schools, special education, school meals, and college affordability.

With nearly 10% of Michigan’s education budget coming from federal funding, these cuts could challenge our students’ ability to learn and succeed.

Governor Whitmer wants to hear your thoughts on these proposed changes. Make your voice heard, and fill out the survey today.

PTA ACTION ALERT - PROTECT PUBLIC SCHOOLS

A bill called the Educational Choice for Children Act (ECCA) was recently introduced in Congress. The bill would create the first ever nationalized voucher system, redirecting billions of taxpayer dollars away from public schools towards private and religious institutions and homeschooling.

The National PTA encourages families to contact your members of Congress, urging them to oppose ECCA.
