Pride in Self, Pride in Community, Pride in Learning
Mission Statement
The mission of the Miller County R-III School District, in partnership with our students, parents, staff, and community, is to promote PRIDE and provide a quality education that inspires our students to be lifelong learners.
Thank you to everyone who supported our classes for carnival. They raised over $19,000 that night!
A few pictures from the FFA trip to National Convention--what a great time!
Seniors met with the Josten's rep this week for cap and gown information. It will be time for graduation before we know it!
7th Grade students have been learning about Ancient Greece this week and created their own ancient Spartan "dog tags" or as the Romans called them, "Signaculum." Before the Spartans entered the battlefield, they found a twig and put their mark on both ends. Then they would break them in half, attaching one to a bracelet on the battlefield and keeping one with their belongings at camp.
Some pictures from our fall parties!
Chemistry was conducting a series of reactions to relate the presence of color in an ionic solution as a characteristic of electron configurations. (Ask Mr. Morris!)
We have LOTS of jackets, coats, and hoodies available for students who need them in our Lion's Locker. If your student needs one, please contact his/her teacher or Mrs. Cathy Polly and we will take care of it!
Principal's Corner
Dear Parents and Community Members,
Happy Friday! Can you believe it is already November? It seems like yesterday we were just starting the school year, and now it’s almost Thanksgiving. We have had a wonderful first few months of school and I am hopeful it will continue like this for the rest of the school year.
The end of first semester will be here before you know it. Teachers are working with students to stay on top of their assignments as semester grades are what stay on student transcripts. Please make sure you are logging in to the parent portal to check your student’s grades and reaching out to teachers if you have questions. Teachers should be contacting you with student grade concerns, but please don’t hesitate to reach out to them with any questions or concerns you might have. Please note if you have a student in a Launch math course you will need to check the Launch parent portal for the most up to date math grade.
If you have a student in need of a winter coat or shoes, please reach out to the school. We have resources available to help with this if finances are a concern.
Just a reminder that students do not have school on Monday, November 6. This is a scheduled professional development day for teachers. Students will return to school on Tuesday, November 7.
As always, if you have any questions or concerns please don’t hesitate to reach out. My door is always open and I am always willing to help however I can. Have a wonderful weekend!
Sincerely,
Kyla Kirtley
Principal
