Students who wish to take correspondence courses or credit by exams (CBE) will need to meet with their counselor prior to signing up. By taking a course without a counselor permission, you are risking the chance of non-credit.

As we look ahead to the end of the semester, we want to share our policy regarding final exam attendance to help you plan accordingly. Final exams are scheduled for May 19-22. Please note that students are not permitted to take final exams early. If a student is unable to attend their scheduled exam due to illness or extenuating circumstances, the following process will apply:

  • Reporting Absences: Your student's teacher will report any absences during final exams. Please notify the teacher if you know of a circumstance where you will not be in attendance. This helps us schedule your make up session for late May or June.
  • Gradebook Updates: If an exam is missed, a "0" will be entered. This will significantly impact semester averages until the exam is completed and graded. If the exam is not completed, the "0" will remain. It is the family's responsibility to schedule it once the information has been sent out. An email will be sent after the teacher reports that a student missed the exam.
  • Exemptions: To maintain exemption status, students must be present in class on the day of the exam. If a student is exempt but absent, a "0" will still be entered until the requirement is met over the summer. If the exam is not completed, the "0" will remain. It is the family's responsibility to schedule it once the information is sent.
  • Completion Timeline: All make-up exams must be completed by mid-June. Once graded, updates will be reflected in the Home Access Center as soon as possible.

Students who fail a 1st semester course have the opportunity to gain credit in the 2nd semester if both semesters average to at least a 70. Students who fail the 2nd semester of a course must make it up. Our district offers Summer School for those situations. Please contact your school counselor for Summer School information. You must be invited to attend. Here is the brochure for more information.

TWHS Boys Basketball

Boys Basketball summer camp is coming soon for Conroe ISD students entering grades 1-9. Go to our website at www.highlanderbasketball.org for sign up link and more information.

Lady Highlander Basketball: A Season of Intentional Growth

From the very beginning, we knew this season would be special. The year officially tipped off with a visit from WNBA legend and first-ever WNBA Draft pick Tina Thompson, who shared an encouraging message with our Lady Highlanders, parents, and staff: “Be Intentional.”

That message became the foundation of our season.

Through victories and challenges, highs and lows, our program grew stronger together. Most importantly, our athletes embraced the journey, competed with heart, and represented Lady Highlander Basketball with pride.

Freshman Team

The freshman program began with two separate teams. The Red Team captured the Conroe ISD Tournament Championship, while the Green Team earned impressive wins against several schools’ A-teams throughout the season. Despite injuries, scheduling, and other challenges throughout the year, neither team ever backed down. Whether playing with a full squad or a limited roster, our ladies consistently showed toughness, resilience, and determination on the court.

The freshmen finished the season as District Runner-Up, and we are excited about their future in the program.

Junior Varsity

This year’s JV team built something special both on and off the court. Strong friendships, leadership, and competitiveness created an exciting atmosphere that positively impacted the entire program. After a tough early-season loss at the CISD Tournament and a third-place finish, the team responded with focus and determination. Their hard work paid off with an Undefeated District Championship and an outstanding 23-2 overall record.

Congratulations to our JV Lady Highlanders on an incredible season!

Varsity

Varsity experienced a memorable season filled with growth, resilience, and success. The team finished with a 28-9 overall record, earned the title of District Runner-Up, captured the Bi-District Championship, and advanced to the second round of the playoffs, where the season ended in a hard-fought one-point loss. This group achieved more wins than the program has seen in over a decade and established a strong foundation for the future.

Our seniors - Isa Alaniz (4-year Varsity Letterman), Rylie Bartholomew, Isabel Benson, Evangelina DeSpain, Caelyn Hoffman, Ireland Osborne, and Abbie York left a sizable impact on the program that will continue to be felt for many years to come.

We’re excited about the talent returning next season, led by key varsity junior contributors Rachael Roberts and Kasyn Pino, whose dynamic skills will continue to drive the program forward. Alongside sharpshooter Mariposa DeSpain and the "fresh" talent and energy of returning rookies Isabella Perez and Sabria Seifert — as well as key contributors continuing to rise within the program — the future of Lady Highlander Basketball is bright!

2026 Milestone Moments: Sr. - Isa Alaniz- 1,000+ Career Points

Jr. - Rachael Roberts 1,0000+ Career Points

Sr.- Caelyn Hoffman 700+ Career Rebounds

Awards: Rachael Roberts: District 13- 6A OFFENSIVE MVP

1st Team All District: Rachael Roberts , Caelyn Hoffman, Isa Alaniz, Isabel Benson

2nd Team All District: Kasyn Pino Honorable Mention: Evangeline DeSpain & Abbie York

Academic All- District - Rylie Bartholomew, Isabel Benson, Evangelina DeSpain, Mariposa DeSpain, Zoe Heatley,

Caelyn Hoffman, Ireland Osborne, Isabella Perez, Rachael Roberts, Abbie York

Academic All-State: 1st Team: Caelyn Hoffman and Abbie York

Honorable Mention: Evangelina DeSpain, Rylie Bartholomew, & Ireland Osborne

We look forward to a fun summer focused on rest, recovery, growth, and sharpening our skills both on and off the court.

TWHS Boys Lacrosse

TWHS Boys Lacrosse

Congratulations to the Highlander varsity team for reaching the THSLL state tournament for the 4th year in a row and their 3rd championship game appearance in as many years. The team fell just short of a title this year, dropping a 9-8 nailbiter to Dallas Jesuit on Monday, May 11. The JV team won the city championship, defeating Memorial in convincing fashion on April 25th.

Congratulations to Coach Anthony DeMaio for earning THSLL Coach of the Year honors, as well as to the team for earning 8 All-State, 5 All-American, 4 All-District (as well as 2 Honorable Mention) recognitions. Great season, and the future continues to look bright!

WORLD LANGUAGES

TWHS offers a multitude of languages, including Japanese, German, French, and Chinese. As students decide which language to choose, there are a few things to keep in mind. Which language will make them stand out to future employers? Please see our monthly newsletter or more information about who we are and what our languages offer.

CLINIC NOTES CLINIC NOTES

● May 22nd at 12:00 is the deadline to request copies of vaccine records to be emailed to you, pick up original Conscientious Objector affidavits (if your child is leaving TWHS), or check out any remaining medications. Any medication left after that time will be discarded; we are not allowed to send it home with students, or store it over the summer.

● If you plan to come on one of the half days during exam week to check out medication, please be aware that we may only be available while students are on campus; we highly recommend calling before coming. The clinic at the main campus can be reached at 936-709-1209, and the 9th grade campus clinic’s phone number is 832-592-8208.

○ Please notify the clinic if you do not plan to pick up your child’s medication by 12:00 on May 22nd, and prefer for it to be discarded on the last day of school.

● If your child has a medical condition such as asthma, severe environmental or food allergies, diabetes, migraines, or seizures, please remember that doctor’s orders must be renewed each school year. If you need new forms for the 2026-27 school year, you can access them on the Health Services website at https://www.conroeisd.net/o/cisd/page/healthservices or your doctor is welcome to use their own form.

● If your child has a change in health over the summer, please be sure to note that on the online enrollment that you are asked to complete in July. One important item to update on there are any food allergies that your child has. That information is shared with the Child Nutrition department, and they will not sell your child any items that are currently listed as an allergy.

○ If your child previously had a food allergy that is no longer current, Child Nutrition will not remove it from their account unless a parent specifically requests its removal.

● Please schedule doctor’s appointments during the summer so that we can have a plan and medication (if needed) in place for the first day of school. Parents are welcome to check in medications to the clinic beginning on

schedule pick-up days at the end of the summer; lines are generally very long on the first day of school.

● If your student is participating in athletics or band over the summer and has a chronic medical condition, they will need to have their plan and any needed emergency medications turned in to the athletic trainers by the first day of practice. If they have orders to carry an Epi-pen, inhaler, or diabetic supplies, they will need to show the coach that they have them.

● If your child has a vaccine or new Conscientious Objector Exemption due over the summer, please be aware they will not be allowed to pick up their schedule, get a parking space, or start school in August without first submitting proof that the requirement has been completed. Notification letters have been mailed home.

● If your child has borrowed any clothing from the clinic this school year, we would appreciate it if you would wash any pants or shirts and return them. We have very few pairs of pants remaining.

We hope you and your family have a safe and healthy summer, and we look forward to seeing you in August!
