A Safer, Simpler Check-In at Northern
You may have read in the October/November FHPS Focus that FHPS is starting a new digital visitor management system in all district schools this November. Here’s what it means when you visit Forest Hills Northern High School.
Always come in through the main entrance and check in at the office. If you’ll be going past the office, for example to volunteer, please bring a valid government-issued ID such as a driver’s license or state ID.
Here’s how it works:
- Press the buzzer in the secure vestibule and come to the main office.
- Scan your ID at the iPad kiosk. The system does a quick safety check, which usually takes less than 30 seconds.
- Wear the printed visitor sticker where staff can see it.
- Before you leave, return your sticker to the office and scan out.
You won’t need to scan in if you’re only dropping off or picking up a student, or making a delivery. For larger school events, we’ll share simpler check-in steps with families ahead of time.
The new system replaces our paper sign-in sheets and helps us know who is in the building at all times. Our office staff are happy to help with your first visit. Thank you for helping keep Northern safe and welcoming!
Thank You, Forest Hills Public Schools Foundation!
Forest Hills Northern is grateful to the Forest Hills Public Schools Foundation for awarding $34,546 in Fall Grants to our staff:
- Kate Martus: Ceramic Studio Supplies ($2,052)
- Danielle Harrison: Building Thinking Classrooms ($2,373)
- Amy Machiela: HeartMath Technologies ($1,150)
- Brendan Fleming: Anatomy in Clay Models ($14,471)
- FHN Counseling Team: Counseling on the Move ($4,500)
- Robyn Anderson, Hailey Kamminga, Matt Langlois, and Allyson Britton: Building Skills for Success ($10,000)
These grants turn our teachers’ ideas into real experiences for students. That includes hands-on art and science, more visible math thinking, and stronger support for students’ well-being and independence.
A special thank-you goes to the FHN families, businesses, and community members who donate to the Foundation. Your generosity goes straight to our classrooms.
