Elementary Literacy Dialogue: The Cohasset Public Schools is hosting a Literacy Dialogue about the Elementary Comprehensive Literacy Approach on June 4th at 4:30pm in the Learning Commons at the Middle High School (143 Pond St.). We invite parents and guardians with students in Prk-5 to join us. Please RSVP using this link by May 30th. We look forward to meeting with you.

Bike to School with Mr. You: Pump up your tires, grab your helmet, and practice that steep Sohier St. hill -- June 3rd is our 2nd annual Bike to School with Mr. You morning! We'll meet at the Town Common at 8:30 and will enjoy a community bike ride to school. Last year we had over 100 students participate! Afterward parents can pick up students' bikes from 9:30-10:30 if they're not planning on biking home that day. They can come to the gym doors in the back loop to do this. To adjust for the higher volume, at dismissal all students riding their bikes home will come to the gymnasium after car pickups have left. We will then dismiss bikers when traffic has slowed down, likely about 3:40-3:45.

Field Day: Field Day is Thursday, June 5. Please see this document for the schedule and to volunteer. Mr. Youmans is looking for additional help!

Grade 5 Send Off: On Friday June 13 we'll celebrate our 5th graders as they mark the end of their time at Deer Hill. Please see this information from our PSO who are helping to organize a great day!

2025-2026 Band & Chorus Program: Starting this fall, we’re excited to offer our students more opportunities to explore their musical talents! All students in grades 4 and 5 will participate in either chorus, band, or both, allowing them to follow their individual interests and grow as young musicians. All 3rd graders will take part in chorus, building a strong foundation in singing and performance. We’re looking forward to a fun and music-filled year!

Grade 3 Historical Cohasset Field Trip: On Wednesday 3rd graders embarked on the first ever Historical Cohasset field trip. Broken up into groups, they visited the Beechwood Meeting House, the Maritime Museum, the Wilson House, and the Historical Society before enjoying a picnic lunch on the Common. This field trip was the result of almost a year of planning -- many thanks to Katie Holden and Lynne DeGiacomo from the Historical Society as well as the numerous volunteers throughout the day, including the Cohasset Garden Club and photographer extraordinaire, Dan Leahy. A special shoutout to our own Mrs. Frasier, who served as the liaison and even took a "practice" field trip! Lastly, fun fact: most people think that the Historical Society is part of town government but in fact it's a separate nonprofit that relies on donations to keep up with the maintenance of our historic buildings and deliver programs.Their museums will be open starting in June and students are welcome to come back with their families. If you'd like to make a donation to honor all of their great work, you can via this QR code. To access more photos from Dan Leahy's photo album, click on this link.

CPS Purposeful Play & Risk Challenge CPS Purposeful Play & Risk Challenge

Each month Superintendent Shannon includes a suggestion for purposeful play and developmentally appropriate risk. Here is the May challenge!

Keeping up with our Anxious Generation purposeful play and responsible risk taking challenges, I am inviting you to join in on our May activities. This month, our challenges are:

Purposeful Play Challenge

Let's get creative this month! May is here and so are the flowers and planting season. Plant a garden together. Build the plan, head to the store together to pick out what you're going to plant, get messy in the dirt as you dig, and then watch as what you did together grows. Celebrate your success. Bonus points if you plant a new fruit or vegetable that your child tries as a new food once it's planted!

Responsible Risk Taking Challenge

This month let your child plan a solo adventure within safe boundaries according to their age. Let your child walk to a neighbor’s house, deliver a letter to the mailbox by themselves, ride their bike to somewhere of their choice, or stay home alone. Independence builds confidence!
