A Message From Mrs. Gabriela Elliott, Campus Principal
Greetings Ravens! Thank you for a great week of learning and fun! This week we had fun dressing up, we had a fall dance, volleyball games, took three weeks assessments, celebrated fall with a festival and concluded the week with football games and a cross country meet. Thank you parents for your support through it all. You are truly appreciated.
We thank all our military-connected families, veterans, reserve, retired and active duty servicemembers and their families for their service and sacrifices. This Friday we are celebrating Veteran's Day. Please note, Friday 11/10/23, is a holiday and district closure. We will not have school.
Power Hour continues in full swing and helps our Ravens get better every day. Please note, Power Hour (tutoring) transportation will not be provided because very few students are riding the bus and the routes are getting home very late. We will be providing an afternoon snack. Lots of Greatness On The Horizon!
Attendance: Congratulations to 6th grade for being the grade level with the highest attendance three weeks in a row, 93.2%. They earned free dress tomorrow, 11/06/23. In second place is 7th grade, 91.98% and in 3rd is 8th grade with 90.25%. Our overall attendance this week was low. Let's remind our Ravens to wash their hands before eating or use hand sanitizer. It is flu season and we want to keep everyone healthy. Go Ravens!!
Buses: It is bus safety. Please speak to our Ravens about bus expectations and ensure they have a bus ID to check in and out of the route.
Capturing Kid's Hearts: Please read attached newsletter for our November Theme: Teamwork.
What is Teamwork?
Teamwork is the ability to work in unity with others towards a common goal. For us to learn how to become team players, it is important that we learn to listen, encourage our peers, and allow and invite others to contribute their talents and skills.
Why focus on Teamwork?
- Teamwork improves communication: Teamwork helps us improves our verbal and non-verbal communication skills, conveying that we care and a relevant message.
- Teamwork builds interpersonal awareness: Growing a great team requires us to first build strong relationships through better understanding ourselves and others.
- Teamwork celebrates diversity. Teamwork thrives from diverse ideas that come from a mixture of different genders, cultures, expertise, experience, and problem-solving approaches.
Teamwork in Action:
- Call them a team, not a class or group. A group consists of many different people. A team, however, has a common purpose and a shared responsibility for success.
- Require teams to set expectations for and manage their own behavior. Do not tell teams what type of behavior is expected -- let them decide for themselves with a Social Contract.
- Teach and encourage affirmations. Giving affirmations helps connect the team and builds trust, promotes engagement, and boosts a positive culture.
Fine Arts: November 2nd, we will be hosting our first Band and Orchestra concerts. Excited or our young musicians to show off their learnings to our Raven Parents.
Respectfully,
Gabriela Elliott, Proud Raven Principal
