Message from the Superintendent

Dear Moreno Valley Unified School District Community,

I want to take a moment to thank each of you for helping us achieve such a positive and successful start to the 2025–2026 school year. This past week, we proudly welcomed more than 30,000 students onto our 39 campuses, and it has been inspiring to see the energy, excitement, and commitment that filled our classrooms, playgrounds, and hallways.

To our teachers and certificated staff, thank you for the thoughtful preparation, creativity, and dedication you bring to your students each day. To our support staff, from office teams to bus drivers to nutrition services to instructional support staff, custodial, and maintenance and operations crews, your hard work behind the scenes ensures that our schools are safe, welcoming, and ready for learning. To our students, thank you for arriving eager to learn, grow, and contribute to your school communities. And to our parents and families, your support, encouragement, and trust help make this partnership so successful.

This year, our district theme—Powered by Purpose—guides our work. Together, we are not only focused on academic achievement but also on fostering belonging for every student, family member, and staff member. When each person feels seen, supported, and valued, our schools become stronger, and our students thrive.

Thank you again for making the start of this school year such a success. With your continued partnership, I am confident that this will be a year of growth, connection, and purpose for all.

With gratitude,

Alejandro Ruvalcaba, Ph.D.

Early Childhood Learning Program

The Moreno Valley Unified School District is pleased to announce that enrollment is now open for the Early Childhood Learning Program (Head Start/State Preschool) for the 2025–2026 school year. This program serves children who are 3 or 4 years old and who meet eligibility requirements, which may include federal and state income guidelines or categorical eligibility. We are committed to providing an inclusive learning environment and proudly welcome all children, including those with disabilities. Mariachi Registration for Middle School

We are thrilled to launch our new Middle School Mariachi Program in partnership with the Riverside Arts Academy, bringing culturally rich and musically rigorous opportunities to our students in MVUSD! This free program, funded through Expanded Learning Opportunities (ELOP), offers students a unique opportunity to explore the vibrant tradition of Mariachi music while developing instrumental and vocal skills in an engaging after-school setting. As the program grows, we look forward to expanding access to more grade levels and continuing to build inclusive, inspiring spaces for artistic expression.

Participation in the program requires a commitment to attend two 90-minute after-school classes per week for the 2025–2026 school year. Location, days, and times will be confirmed once registration is complete.

Are you a middle school student interested in being part of this exciting new program? The deadline to register is August 22, 2025. Please fill out the interest form. Space is limited. Students will be notified if they are selected to participate, on a first come first served basis. Open to middle school students, and 6th grade students at elementary schools.
