E-Transportation Policy
It is very important that families know the requirements and regulations of e-bikes and any electric transportation. Learn which e-bikes, scooters and other electric transportation devices are permitted on school campuses, along with important age, licensing and helmet requirements: https://www.sanjuan.edu/resources/safety-resources/e-transportation-safety
The following expectations apply on all San Juan Unified campuses:
- Helmets are required for all riders.
- E-motos are not permitted on any campus.
- Elementary, K-8 and middle school students may only ride Class 1 e-bikes to and from school.
- E-scooters, Class 2 and Class 3 e-bikes, and e-skateboards are only permitted at high schools.
- Riders of Class 3 e-bikes and e-scooters must be at least 16 years old.

Action Required: Volunteer Status Update for 2026–27 School Year
As we prepare for the 2026–27 school year, a new state law (Senate Bill 848) requires that volunteers in California schools complete child abuse and mandated reporter training. Volunteers will also need to complete a tuberculosis (TB) risk assessment or test.
If you are a current volunteer with San Juan Unified, you should have received communication regarding the need to indicate if you wish to remain active or not.
It is very important that all current volunteers complete the form, regardless of which option they choose.
Volunteers who indicate they wish to remain active will receive additional information regarding their next steps, including a link to self-register for required child abuse prevention/mandated reporter training. Only volunteers who opt to remain active will receive access to the training materials and instructions for a TB risk assessment/test.
Please note that if you choose to be removed from our volunteer system and later decide to volunteer again, you will be required to complete all applicable volunteer onboarding requirements in effect at that time, including the required annual training and TB risk assessment or test. You may also be asked to pay for the cost of your background check/fingerprinting required again for the application.
Thank you for your continued support and volunteerism. Should you have any questions, please reach out to the volunteer desk via email at volunteer@sanjuan.edu or call (916) 971-7935. You will also find additional information at www.sanjuan.edu/volunteer.

The Charles Peck office staff is not able to answer questions, or requests, regarding enrollment in Bridges. Thank you!
Mobile Device Policy
Beginning in the 2026-27 school year, personal mobile devices must remain stored throughout the school day at elementary, K-8 and middle schools under the district’s updated “Away for the Day” policy:
Charles Peck Panther Families ~
Beginning this school year, students at elementary, K-8 and middle schools will keep personal mobile devices stored away throughout the school day, including during lunch, recess, and passing periods. Mobile communication devices (including cell phones, smartphones, tablets, smartwatches, earbuds and smart glasses) can be a distraction in the classroom and during instructional periods.
This change is designed to support learning, reduce distractions and encourage positive peer interactions. Students may still bring devices to school, but they must remain stored in accordance with school procedures - off and in their backpacks, or follow the expectations of the teacher and the classroom rules. Charles Peck is not responsible for lost or stolen mobile devices.
Families can continue to contact students through the school office when needed. Students will be able to access devices during emergency situations and if they have an approved exception (such as medical necessity)
For additional information, please visit www.sanjuan.edu/mobilepolicy or contact the school office.
Thank you for your partnership and support.
