THE LIBRARY IS MORE THAN BOOKS!
πβ¨ THE LIBRARY IS MORE THAN BOOKS! β¨π
The Library is not just a place to open a book and open your mindβit is a place to build relationships, discover passions, celebrate talents, and get to know our students beyond the classroom. π
This week, I had the opportunity to see that firsthand with Chevelle, an avid reader who loves spending time in the Library. ππ
While reading is one of her passions, Chevelle also shared another amazing talent with usβher beautiful singing voice! π€β¨
Moments like this remind me why the Library matters. When we create a welcoming space where students feel seen, valued, and comfortable being themselves, we discover the incredible gifts they have to share.
In the Library, we READ. We CONNECT. We CREATE. We DISCOVER. We CELEBRATE! ππ€π«
Keep shining, Chevelle! Your talent is LEGENDARY! π

Reading Tips and Facts
π 5 Literacy Tips for High School Students
1. READ SOMETHING EVERY DAY π
Even 10β15 minutes of reading each day can strengthen your vocabulary, comprehension, and focus. Choose something you actually enjoy!
2. DONβT SKIP THE WORDS YOU DONβT KNOW π
When you encounter an unfamiliar word, pause and use the context, a dictionary, or an online resource to figure out what it means.
3. ASK QUESTIONS π€
Good readers are curious readers! Ask yourself: What is the author trying to say? Why is this important? What evidence supports this idea?
4. WRITE IT DOWN βπΎ
Take notes, highlight important information, summarize what you read, and write down your thoughts. Writing helps you remember and understand what you read.
5. EXPLORE DIFFERENT GENRES ππ
Don't limit yourself to one type of book. Try mystery, fantasy, science fiction, biography, historical fiction, romance, nonfiction, graphic novels, and more. Your next favorite book may be in a genre you've never tried!
