WMS LEADERSHIP TEAM
Mark Wackwitz - Assistant Principal & 7th Grade Admin
We are already 3 weeks in to the 25-26 school year and the energy coming into this school year has been great! Thank you to those of you who have already donated to the West Wildcat Challenge that started this week. As of Thursday morning we have 33% of our goal โ raising almost $21,000. Please go to https://r4funds.com/schools/westmsrun25/ to donate.
Also, we want to share a couple of important safety reminders and notes:
- There should be no drop offs or pick ups along Holly Street. We know traffic can be slow at times on Holly but please make sure you are in a parking lot or drop off lane when students are getting in or out of your vehicles. Please see the WMS Student Handbook for further information.
- The visitor loop will continue to be blocked off until buses have completed their pick up or drop off in mornings and afternoons.
- Make sure if a student is staying after school, they are participating in an approved school activity, club, or homework help. Students not picked up by 4:05pm will be directed to Homework Help, and you will need to come in to get them.
- The WMS Fall Lockdown Drill will be happening the week of September 22nd. More information will be coming in the following weeks.
Thank you for all of your support in ensuring student safety at WMS!
New information will always appear above the blue line, while reminders and helpful links can be found below it.
Cherry Creek High School and CCSD information is at the bottom of this newsletter, past the reminders! ๐

STAR STUDENT REPORTS
Dear Parent/Guardian,
We hope this message finds you well. Recently your student completed the Star Assessment and their report will be available in the next few weeks.
Please follow these instructions for how to access these reports.
CLINIC CORNER
Immunizations
If you received communication stating your student is missing one or more vaccinations, please work with the clinic to provide an updated immunization record for your student and consider the following.
For our 6th graders Tdap is an immunization not previously required for K-5th grade but required for 6th grade. This means that although they may have been compliant last school year they will not be compliant years 6th-12th grade without the Tdap immunization.
Non-medical exemptions expire in June of every summer, meaning you must complete the exemption process every summer and provide the clinic documentation.

LIBRARY
New books for the new year!
West Middle School library has lots of new books! Be sure to send your student to the library to check out our new titles!
E-Books, Magazines and Audiobooks!
Did you know you and your students have access to the Sora Digital Library, which contains 30,000 ebooks, audiobooks and magazines chosen specifically for our Cherry Creek students and staff. Click here to start browsing.
As students return to school, reading for pleasureโeven just 15โ20 minutes a dayโcan rebuild focus, strengthen vocabulary, and boost comprehension skills that may have slipped during the summer. Encouraging kids to choose a book over a screen, even briefly, helps them develop critical thinking, reduce stress, and return to class more confident and ready to learn.

RIDING THE BUS
Transportation is required by CDE Regulations to account for all students on the bus and unauthorized passengers are not permitted. However, the Transportation Department recognizes that circumstances may arise, e.g. a family emergency, parents out of town, etc., when a student needs to ride home with another student on a one-time only basis. The student must get off at the assigned stop of the student they are riding with (no exceptions).
Make sure to fill out and turn in the linked Permission Slip to the Campus Admins office no later than 9:00 AM on the requested ride date. Forms can be printed and handed to the Campus Admins Assistant. Hard copies of the form can be picked up from the Campus Admins office if they are needed but must be picked up prior to the day they need to ride a different bus. No emails will be accepted. If there is an emergency, please call the Campus Admins office at 720-554-5155.
