JSC Weekly Wave
Week of May 1st through May 5th
Dear JSC Community,
Welcome to the month of May! Hopefully the 'April showers' make their way out and warm, sunny weather makes its way in! We are in the home stretch of PSSA testing here at JSC! Our third and fourth grade students are making us extremely proud with their work ethic and dedication to testing. They are certainly trying their best, which is all we can ask for! Thanks to all staff, parents, guardians, and families, for making sure students are well rested and prepared for testing.
Be sure to catch JSC's Morning Splash daily news program! Each morning our Spartan Games athletes are being featured! Don't forget that JSC is celebrating teacher and staff appreciation from May 8th through May 12th. We hope you'll join in the acts of appreciation challenges throughout the week!
Finally, our PTO basket auction ticket sales will take place from May 11th through May 13th. Please read on for additional news, upcoming events, and information.
Have a great week!

- park your vehicle at the curb
- escort your child/children TO THE CROSSWALK where the crossing guard is on duty
- escort your child/children to the front door of our building
Attendance Reminders
Students should arrive to school NO later than 9:00 AM. Any student arriving after 9:00 is considered tardy.
Please remember to send a written absence note with your child, upon return from an absence. Notes are required for EVERY absence, and need to be received within three days of the absence.
When a student reaches 10 absences for the school year, a doctor's note is required in order for any additional absences to be excused.
Please contact JSC main office with any questions regarding attendance.
The Elementary Student Assistance Program (ESAP) is designed to assist children who are experiencing difficulty with academic, attendance, behavioral, mental health, and/or social concerns.
Currently, if you have a concern for a child who is experiencing difficulty with academic, attendance, behavioral, mental health, and/or social concerns, please contact our JSC school counselor, Mr. John Pettit, (570) 621-2945. You may also contact your child's teacher, or Miss Lubinsky, school principal.

Walker Dismissal 3:05 PM
We would like to remind parents / families picking up students that walker dismissal is at 3:05 PM, daily. (Kindergarten walkers are dismissed at the same time as all other grade levels.) Kindergarten walkers are dismissed from the Gym Entrance (around side of building). Older siblings should report to the Gym Entrance to be dismissed with their kindergarten sibling.
All other grade level walkers (grades 1 through 4) are dismissed from the main entrance.
Bus Reminders
If your child rides the bus, please be sure to talk to your child(ren) about proper and safe bus behaviors. We do our best to consistently and frequently review the following points:
- Students should remain seated and facing forward at all times when riding the bus
- Students should use only kind words and refrain from any profanity or screaming
- Students should keep their hands, arms, legs, and objects to themselves at all times
In an effort to review and monitor bus behavior, Ms. Lubinsky will take turns riding buses (in the morning and afternoon). She is always on the lookout for students who are following JSC's PRIDE rules!
