Principal's Message

October 24, 2025

Dear Bobcat Families,

Already the last week of October??? Where has the time gone? Enjoy some family time this weekend and enjoy the cooler (and possibly rainy) weather.

Students MAY NOT wear costumes to school on October 31st, but they are encouraged to dress according to Red Ribbon Week themes all week (see below) including Halloween colors on Friday.

We did it! LCI won FIRST PLACE among all intermediate schools for CCEF's Dine Out to Donate this month. I received our check at the ESC on Tuesday afternoon. Thank you to everyone who dined at participating restaurants and voted for LCI!!! Thank you to CCEF!!!

Ms. Fitzmorris' mini-course designed great t-shirts last nine weeks. They got to wear them today. We will ask some of the designers to use their designs for shirts to sell in the Bobcat Store (using Bobcat Bucks) during lunches on Thursdays. Great job, students!

There will NOT be a callout Sunday evening.

Have a great weekend!

Struggle, Challenge and Meaning

Every year I have a couple of students who come up to me to tell me they’re not “GT” anymore. Some GT students categorize learning something new and challenging as boring and/or meaningless. They expect new ideas or schoolwork to come easily and when it doesn’t, they become frustrated, angry or they shut down. Growth is uncomfortable and the rewards of the effort and struggle may not be immediate. Teachers try to explain the relevance of assignments to students but sometimes their immaturity or lack of life experience gets in the way.

One of the ways parents can help their children is by sharing how they use information or concepts in day to day life. By pointing out how school related topics are used in life, parents can help their children to understand the meaning behind their learning. This requires knowing what they are doing in school and then intentionally pointing it out and explaining how it’s used. Our lives are so busy and full of demands, but this simple activity can build your relationship with your child and help them to understand why their lessons have meaning. As educators we appreciate all you do to support your child and together we can help them through challenges and to understand why their lessons are important.

Have a great weekend!

Counselor Corner Counselor Corner

NEXT WEEK IS RED RIBBON WEEK.

Red Ribbon Week is a time each year when students all over the country come together to learn about making healthy choices and living drug-free. It started in honor of a man named Enrique “Kiki” Camarena, who worked hard to keep communities safe from drugs.

During this week, we wear red and take part in fun activities to show that we care about ourselves, our friends, and our future. Saying no to drugs and yes to healthy choices helps us stay strong, focused, and ready to reach our goals. You can find the spirit day calendar below.

Red Ribbon Week reminds us that we can be leaders by encouraging others to make smart choices, stand up for what’s right, and support one another in living a safe and healthy life.

Traffic Plan

Do you plan to drop off your student at LCI this year? Please review our traffic plan below. Everyone is safer and traffic flows better when everyone follows the plan!

  • Please follow the yellow arrows around the perimeter of the big lot to drop-off/ pick-up your student. Students should only be dropped-off or picked-up alongside the building.
  • Please do not park. Stay in your car in the pick-up/drop-off line. Students will not be allowed to walk out into the parking lot to meet you. This is to keep them safe.
  • If you are checking your student out early, please park in the bus parking (small lot) which is located along Webster Street. Please be aware that buses are lining from 3:00 – 3:25 and 4:00 – 4:20 and you will not be able to enter/leave the parking lot during those times. It is against the transportation code to pass a bus loading or unloading.
  • Please do not drop-off/pick-up your student on Webster Street. It is dangerous and a violation of the traffic code.
