WHAT'S HAPPENING IN THE LJH LIBRARY?

This month, the library welcomed an incredible 539 individual student visits! Of those, 179 students selected books to enjoy, 159 spent time testing, reading independently, or working independently, and 187 participated in Lunch Bunch. In total, 541 books were checked out this month, reflecting the growing enthusiasm for reading among our students.

Beyond book selection, several classes used the library as an extension of their classroom learning, showcasing the versatility of our space and resources.

Mrs. Boris’s class had a particularly dynamic month in the library. They used the library space to delve into The Tell-Tale Heart and prepare for a mock trial inspired. This hands-on activity brought literature and critical thinking together in a unique and memorable way.

Mr. Herr’s 8th-grade Social Studies students explored inventions of the 1800s and extended their classroom learning into the library with an exciting project. Students designed their own inventions, filmed infomercials in our broadcasting studio, and honed their video editing skills using iMovie. Their creativity and attention to detail were truly outstanding, and throughout the year, they have been able to master the art of editing.

Looking ahead, we’re thrilled to announce our upcoming "Warm Up with a New Favorite Book" event in January! This cozy celebration will encourage students to embrace the joy of reading while staying warm during the winter months.

A huge thank you to LJHS staff and students for their ongoing enthusiasm and participation in our library programs. We’re looking forward to another month of creativity, engagement, and discovery in the new year!
