DHS/DAE selects students of the month for December
The following students have been selected as Students of the Month for December at Davison High School and Davison Alternative Education.
9th grade - Sophia Lor
Nominated by: Mr. Brett Coron
"Sophia is an exemplary student in our English 9 classroom. She consistently demonstrates a high level of dependability and enthusiasm in all classroom activities. Sophia is always willing to participate and regularly volunteers to answer questions from Mr. Ragnone and me, displaying both initiative and a strong understanding of the content. Sophia serves as a positive role model for her peers, consistently exhibiting good behavior and a respectful attitude. She helps foster a supportive classroom environment, encouraging her classmates to follow suit. Sophia's dedication and positive influence in our classroom make her a deserving candidate for Student of the Month."
10th grade - Gracie Rodgers
Nominated by: Mrs. Ruth Friske
"Gracie is an exemplary student and human being. She has integrity and maturity through and through. I can always depend on her to do what needs to be done or even do more than needs to be done like asking for a new copy of an assignment so she can redo it better. She does not flinch or ever complain about putting in the work she needs to do to be successful. In addition to her academics, I can depend on Gracie to never be involved in drama. She knows who she is and will not be influenced to make poor choices. She is a quiet leader and will be heard gently redirecting her table 'Let's get this done guys.' Gracie genuinely cares about her grade and doing well. She self-advocates for herself, is always polite and grateful, which are skills that will take her far in life and open up doors."
11th grade - Moriah Relerford
Nominated by: Ms. Turina Zimmer
Moriah is a fantastic student and person! She works so hard in class, always giving 100+% on every assignment she does in English. She is kind and extremely mature; Moriah comes to class with a positive attitude, a constant smile, and a willingness to help anyone who needs it. She has helped me with different activities in class, including translating Spanish at times when I needed it (she wants to be a translator some day; she's in AP Spanish and also trying to learn some Portuguese on her own!). I believe Moriah is also a Student Ambassador and balances her school time with a job after school. I feel lucky to have her in class.
12th grade - Lily Schultz
Nominated by: Mrs. Jennifer Johnson
"Lily is exceptional. She is polite, intelligent, hard working and helpful. I appreciate her willingness to step outside her comfort zone to work with many different groups of people; and I admire her bravery to take the stage during school and community plays. She radiates strength, but her greatest asset is her kindness. Davison is a better place because of her!"
DAE: Mackenzie Suttle
Nominated by: Mrs. Nicole Powers and Mrs. Amanda Mobley
Mrs. Powers writes that Mackenzie is a new student to DAE, and she has been an exemplary student in algebra. Every day Mackenzie is ready to put her full effort into her learning, and has aspirations to be a veterinarian. Mackenzie is willing to help others and participates everyday. She applies maximum effort to understand all of the concepts in algebra, and believes hard work will make her successful. Her quiet and sweet nature shines through, and will make a wonderful student of the month. Mrs. Mobley adds that Mackenzie has shown how serious she is about making good decisions and putting in the time and effort with her academics! Mackenzie does absolute, well-thought-out quality work. I have been able to talk with her extensively about becoming a Veterinarian and looking at different paths to make sure she is successful. She really has thought about and researched the paths that might work for her. Having her in School to Work class, she proved that she had the maturity and quality work to succeed in Mock Interviews- Mackenzie is a class act; although quiet. she is a true leader, leading by example.
