Principal's Message
Dear Ridgeview United Families,
Welcome to a brand new school year! As we prepare to open the doors of Ridgeview United on Monday, August 5th, I am filled with excitement and anticipation for what promises to be an incredible year ahead.
Our team has been working diligently over the summer to ensure that every classroom is ready, every resource is in place, and every detail is set to make this year memorable for our students. We have some fantastic new programs and initiatives that we’re eager to share with you, all aimed at enhancing the educational experience and fostering a vibrant, supportive community.
To our returning families, welcome back! Your continued support and involvement play a crucial role in our students' success. To our new families, we extend a warm welcome and look forward to getting to know you and your children. Ridgeview United is not just a school; it's a community where every child is valued, every voice is heard, and every day is an opportunity to learn and grow.
Please remember to check out our website and social media for important updates, events, and resources throughout the year. Your partnership and engagement are vital as we work together to ensure the best possible experience for all our students.
Let’s make this school year exceptional by embracing every challenge with enthusiasm, every success with pride, and every opportunity to make a difference. I am looking forward to seeing each of you on August 5th and to a year full of learning, growth, and achievement.
Here’s to a fantastic start!
Warm regards,
Principal Garrett
Important Arrival information: Students will come by vehicle, bus, or walker and proceed directly to the cafeteria (6th) or gym (7th & 8th). For the first two weeks of school, when the 8:55 bell rings, they will go to their homeroom class. This will help us get acclimated to the new school year. Following the first two weeks, students will begin their day when the 8:55 bell rings and report directly to first period.
New Locker Requirement: All students will be required to have a locker this year. During the day, back packs (and phones) will be stored in the locker. Students will be permitted regular access to their lockers each day. We believe this change will help reduce congestion in our hallways and ensure that our classrooms are distraction free. All families are asked to pay the locker fee using this link to the OSP payment site.
I also wanted to update you on some recent staffing changes at Ridgeview. Last week, we experienced the resignation of three of our valued teachers: Ms. Murano (ELA TAG), Ms. Early (Physical Science), and Ms. Gober (Special Education). Additionally, we had an anticipated teacher transfer that did not materialize as planned.
Despite these challenges, I am pleased to share that we have successfully identified excellent replacements for four out of the five positions. Ms. Maria Croshaw will be joining us as the 7th grade ELA TAG teacher, Ms. Norman will take over the 8th grade ELA class, Mr. Williams will take over ISS, and Ms. Tanskley will be our new 8th grade Physical Science teacher. These new teachers will begin once they have been cleared by Human Resources.
We are still actively searching for a qualified Special Education teacher to complete our team. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to fill this final position.
Thank you for your continued support and partnership.

Counselor's Corner
Ridgeview welcomes our two new School Counselors! New this year, our counselors will be serving students based upon the first letter of the student's last name. This will help ensure that all students within a family are served by the same counselor and allow continuity with the same counselor as students move from grade to grade. This is a change from prior years when the counselors were assigned by grade level.
Welcome Dr. Long!
Hello RCMS community!
My name is Dr. Marika Long, and I am excited to serve you all this school year. This is my 17th year in education and my 11th year as a School Counselor. I have a passion for people and a commitment to building strong, lasting, and nourishing relationships. My caseload this school year will be students with last names beginning with A-K. The “Foundation” plans to invest over $100,000 this school year into the many music and athletic programs at Ridgeview! Communication Protocol
If ever an issue, concern, or question comes up, we ask that the following steps are taken. Following this Communication Protocol will help us to ensure that parents are able to receive prompt responses to their questions.
- Contact the teacher; if not resolved,
- Contact your assigned school counselor; if not resolved,
- Contact the grade level administrator/Assistant Principal; and if not resolved,
- Contact the principal
Contact information for all staff members and teachers can be found on the school website staff directory or on Infinite Campus.
Rumors: In recent years, we have experienced an uptick in false information or rumors being spread among group chats, texts and "group-mes". Before spreading information, we ask that you please contact the school to verify that the information is correct. We will respond. But please understand that it may take some time for us to investigate and discern the facts before we can respond.
The perception created by false information can drive unnecessary fear and anxiety. It is incredibly difficult to correct false information once it has been spread. Please help protect our Panther Community by verifying all information before disseminating it.
Carpool Protocol
For families using carpool, please note our procedures to ensure a safe and efficient drop-off and pick-up process.
- Carpool runs from 8:30 am until 8:45 am. Students can be marked tardy after 8:45 am. Students who arrive by bus will never be considered tardy.
- Dismissal time begins at 4:05.
- Please note that carpool always runs slowly during the first few weeks of school. Please be patient and kind while we learn and perfect the process together!
For our Bus Riders!
As we prepare for the first day of school on Monday, August 5th, please check your child’s bus stop for any updates and/or changes. We ask that all parents check this information using the Here Comes the Bus app. If you do not have the app, instructions can be found on the Fulton County Schools website under the Transportation link. Be advised on Saturday and Sunday your child’s bus will not be visible on the app. Alternatively, you may also check the Transportation tab on the Parent Portal which will display your child’s bus information with pickup and drop times and stop location.
Donate Your Uniforms
While you're cleaning out for the new school year, consider donating old school uniforms that are too small or no longer needed. RCMS will use them to make sure all of our students dress for success! Please bring them to the front desk and we will do the rest!
