Treaty Acknowledgement
We acknowledge that Killam Public School is on Treaty 6 territory - the ancestral and traditional land of many Indigenous groups. We are grateful for the animals, the water and the forests that provide us with many resources we use each day. We are thankful for the diverse opportunities that this land offers. We respect the land in which we gather on today.

Principals Message
It’s hard to believe we’re nearing the end of May and entering the final month of the 2024–2025 school year! As always, this time of year brings a flurry of activities, celebrations, and rich learning experiences for our students.
Swimming Lessons Underway
Our elementary students have begun their swimming lessons! A big thank-you to the KPS Parent Advisory Society for their generous support, ensuring all our students have access to this important learning opportunity. If you have any questions, please refer to the school calendar or reach out to your child’s teacher.
Viking Powwow Celebration
Yesterday, all K–9 students had the incredible opportunity to attend the Viking Powwow. It was a vibrant celebration of Indigenous culture, filled with drumming, singing, dancing, and stunning regalia. Students were excited for the opportunity to take part in the Intertribal dancing. Experiences like this are meaningful steps on our journey toward Truth and Reconciliation.
Looking Ahead to Next Year
As we begin planning for the next school year, we want to share some bittersweet news about staffing changes. We are sad to say goodbye to two incredible educators who have made a lasting impact at KPS:
Mr. Bailey has been a vital part of our athletics program over the past two years, coaching basketball and golf, teaching junior high PE, and most recently, Grade 5 math. His strong connections with students and passion for sport will be truly missed.
Mrs. Freadrich has been an essential member of our admin team and a dedicated Kindergarten and Grade 5 teacher. No matter the task, she approaches it with enthusiasm and professionalism. Next year, she will be joining the team at Forestburg School, and they are lucky to have her.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to both Mr. Bailey and Mrs. Freadrich for their contributions to KPS. We wish them all the best in their next adventures!
Stay Informed
The final weeks of the school year are always packed with events, activities, and important dates. We encourage all families to check the school calendar regularly and stay connected with your child’s teacher to ensure you don’t miss any of the exciting things happening at KPS as we wrap up a fantastic year.
Farewell from Mrs. Freadrich
Staff Spotlight - Mrs. Armitage
I am married to my husband Todd for 40 years and have 5 beautiful children who are all married and now I have 11 grandchildren!
In my spare time I love to read, garden, shop and of course spend LOTS of time with my grandchildren.
Killam School has been a real blessing and I love working with all of the children here!

Tik Tok Chromebook Trend
We want to make you aware of a concerning new trend on TikTok that encourages students to intentionally damage school Chromebooks. Please speak with your child about the seriousness of this behavior. Damaging a school device is considered vandalism. Any student who participates in this trend or damages a Chromebook will have their technology privileges revoked, be held financially responsible for the cost of a replacement device, and face additional school disciplinary consequences.
