Capturing Greatness Around LVHS!
Before tackling global challenges, AP Environmental students were asked an important question: What matters most?
Students explored the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, discussing, debating, and ranking them from what they believed was most important to least important.
Starting the Year Strong! What better way to kick off the first week of school than with some team building, collaboration, and growth mindset activities!
Our students had the opportunity to work together, problem-solve, encourage one another, and step outside of their comfort zones. We also talked about the importance of having a growth mindset—understanding that challenges and mistakes are a part of learning and growing.
When things get hard, don’t give up! Keep pushing yourself, try a different approach, learn from the experience, and remember that “I can’t do it yet” is very different from “I can’t do it.”
We are so proud of the positive attitudes, teamwork, and perseverance our students demonstrated during the first week. Here’s to a great year of learning, growing, and pushing ourselves to be our best!
The analysis adventure has begun for World History students!
AP World History students worked with examples of first day POV reactions to write sourcing statements.
World History students worked to think like historians to put stories together after analyzing images.
During June two-a-days, HoneyBears began the Stand Line Challenge! Lines worked over the summer to choreograph new and exciting stand routines. Each line performed and will teach the rest of the team so they are ready for the start of the season!
Mrs. Maytum's UT OnRamps Rhetoric students were the first among all of the projected 14,000 UT OnRamps Rhetoric students to register for this fall, according to the OnRamps Rhetoric Implementation Team. Students began registering during the first day of class.
OnRamps Rhetoric is a dual enrollment course in which students have a high school instructor as well as a college instructor of record and writing assessment specialist. This course is the advanced English option for juniors, and they can earn up to 6 total hours of college credit in English or Rhetoric.
Students get pumped in Floral Design by making paper flowers! They started the year by learning how to make paper flowers for floral arrangements.
La Vernia High School's FCCLA students participated in the Back to School Bash on August 6.

La Vernia ISD is proud to announce that our Primary, Intermediate, Junior High and High School campuses have been awarded the Purple Star Campus Designation from the Texas Education Agency (TEA). This honor recognizes our district’s commitment to supporting military-connected students and their families.
The Purple Star Campus Designation is an award given by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to Texas districts and charter schools that meet specific criteria for supporting military-connected families. Each fall, TEA awards the Purple Star to applicants who meet the following criteria:
Designate a campus-based military liaison who must:
Support military-connected students and their families.
Provide professional development opportunities for staff members on issues related to military-connected students.
Create and maintain an easily accessible webpage with information for military- connected students and their families.
Implement a campus transition program that includes:
Introductions to the school environment and processes.
A student leader or ambassador program, supported by a campus-based staff member.
Organizing and hosting newcomer social events, guided tours of the campus, and accompanying new students to lunch during their first week of school.
Offer at least one of the following initiatives:
A resolution showing support for military-connected students and families.
Participation in the Month of the Military Child or Military Family Month.
A partnership with a school liaison officer to provide opportunities for active-duty military members.
The Purple Star Campus Designation highlights the hard work of our dedicated educators, counselors, and staff in ensuring that military-connected students receive the support they need to thrive academically and socially. As we celebrate this achievement, we look forward to continuing our support of military families and enhancing the resources available to ensure their success.
