Sweet Summer Time!

I hope this summer newsletter finds you all doing well and enjoying a well-deserved break! The Cook family has been soaking up the season—from All-Star baseball games to a fun trip to Cape Cod, plus plenty of late dinners and even later bedtimes. It’s been wonderful to slow down a bit and enjoy time together without quite so many alarms going off each morning!

Classroom Information Coming Soon

In just a couple of weeks, class assignment letters will be mailed home. Inside that same envelope, you’ll also find a grade-level-specific supply list and a welcome letter from your child’s teacher for the upcoming school year.

Please note that it is not our practice to honor specific class placement requests. Class lists are created with great care and are the result of thoughtful collaboration among classroom teachers, Guidance, Nurse Bennett, special educators, intervention specialists, and administration. Our goal is always to create balanced, equitable classrooms that support the success and well-being of all students. Thank you for your understanding and support as we prepare for another great year at HCS!

Popsicles with the Principal

We’re excited to invite all HCS students and families to Popsicles with the Principal on Wednesday, August 20, from 5:30–6:30 p.m. on the HCS playground! Mrs. Walker, our amazing PTO, and I will be there handing out popsicles to students. This is a great chance for families to say hello, visit with our main office staff, reconnect with friends, and share in the excitement of the upcoming school year.

We’re looking forward to seeing you there and kicking off the new year with a sweet celebration!

Arrival & Dismissal Procedures

Arrival and dismissal procedures will remain the same for the upcoming school year. After working closely with the Hubbardston Police Department and making adjustments throughout last year, we’ve found a system that works well and will continue to follow those established procedures.

📌 Students may enter the building at 8:25 a.m.
📌 Dismissal begins at 3:05 p.m.

Below are links to detailed procedures for:

  • Walkers

  • Drop-Off

  • Pick-Up

The only adjustment for the 2025–2026 school year will be related to preschool dismissal:

  • Preschool arrival will continue at the main entrance.

  • Preschool dismissal (both morning and afternoon sessions) will now take place at the side entrance near the Hubbardston Police Station lot.

We appreciate your continued cooperation in helping ensure a safe and smooth start and end to each school day!

Service Dog at HCS

The email below was sent to HCS families a couple of weeks back, and I am including it here, as well. Please do complete the survey if you have not done so already.

----------------------

Hubbardston Center School may be welcoming a service dog this fall to support a student. (More information to come in the months ahead.)

To help us plan appropriately, please take a moment to complete the short survey linked here, by August 1, 2025. (If your child is headed to 6th grade in the fall, no need to respond to the survey.)

Your response is important and appreciated as we work to ensure a safe and supportive environment for all.
