Teacher and Support Staff: Boots on the Ground & Hearts on their Sleeves
During Teacher Appreciation Week, we extend our sincere gratitude to all of our teachers and support staff for the countless hours you invest in our students each day. Your dedication goes far beyond the classroom walls, and your steady commitment helps create the strong, supportive environment our students need to learn and grow.
Thank you for the heart, passion, and care you pour into your work. The impact you make on our students’ success is lasting and meaningful, and it’s what makes our district such a special place to learn and belong.
Truly, thank you is never enough.
GREAT NEWS from around the District
Elementary:
- Our 2nd and 3rd grade Science Fair was a wonderful success! A special thank you to Mrs. Krohn for taking the lead in organizing such a meaningful and engaging event. It was great to see the entire 2nd and 3rd grade team there, supporting their students and celebrating their hard work.
Our 4th grade students had a fantastic time on their field trip exploring historical buildings restored to their original glory and experienced hands-on learning in a memorable way. Some of their favorite stops included the Wright Brothers’ family home, the Machine Shop where they watched brass candlesticks being made, and the Glass Shop where they saw a beautiful, colorful glass bowl come to life.
Wednesday, May 20th is Carnival Day! The PTO is hosting a fun-filled family event for BES students and their families.
Jr/Sr:
- Middle school science brought learning to life with hands-on projects and real-world applications! From experimenting to problem-solving, students dove right in—creating meaningful connections (and maybe a little bit of a mess along the way).
- We are celebrating the hard work and exceptional performances of our Bellevue Seniors on May 18th at 7pm at Bellevue HS. Join us!
- Bellevue Athletic Department honored five outstanding senior athletes at the SCAA Scholar Athlete Banquet, recognizing their determination both in the classroom and in competition. Join us in congratulating these remarkable individuals on their achievements—we’re proud of all they’ve accomplished and can’t wait to see what’s next!
- Congratulations musicians on a job well done! Mrs. Miller does an amazing job with these groups and puts so much passion into making sure they are prepared to perform their best.
- We celebrate DECISION DAY on Tuesday, 5/5/26. This is such an impactful day for our students to showcase achievements, encourage post secondary endeavors, and lift one another up as Seniors get ready to take the next leap. Enjoy the slideshow of their future plans.
- We want to recognize the nominations for our Unsung Hero initiative to recognize those who constantly go above and beyond for our students, staff, and district. You make a difference. Thank you for being you and impact the youth of Bellevue Community Schools: Cora Lorenz!
Superintendent Message
As we wrap up another great week, I want to take a moment to thank our staff, students, families, and community for the energy and support you continue to bring to Bellevue Community Schools each day. The month of May is always one of the busiest and most exciting times of the school year, and it is awesome to see so many people working together.
Over the next few weeks, our students will be participating in important learning opportunities, NWEA testing, athletic competitions, concerts, field trips, and end-of-year events. Through it all, our staff continues to go above and beyond to support students both inside and outside the classroom. Your dedication truly makes a difference.
This time of year reminds us how much can be accomplished when we work together as one team. There is a lot to celebrate, and important work remains ahead. Let’s continue encouraging one another, supporting our students, and carrying the positive momentum through the remainder of the school year.
Thank you again for everything you do for our students and our school community. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Tiered Tidbits: MTSS Spotlight 📈
Our district data reviews highlight steady progress in strengthening implementation across both behavior and reading systems. PBIS Tier 1 fidelity continues to trend upward, with both buildings working toward the goal of 80% or higher by Winter 2026. This work is guiding action planning, professional learning, and consistent monitoring to ensure a positive school climate for all students.
In reading, our R-TFI data shows meaningful growth, particularly at the secondary level, with overall scores increasing from 16% to 40%. Gains in both Tier 1 and advanced tiers reflect a stronger, more cohesive approach to literacy instruction and intervention. These results help us prioritize next steps, refine supports, and continue building a system that improves outcomes for every learner.
