Winter Months and Recess Preparations

Butler Elementary will always follow safety measures in place as it reflects our ability to hold recess outdoors during the winter months. Our plan will always be to go outside, but in making that determination, we will follow the safety measures of CBSD. This includes taking into account: the temperature, real-time wind speeds, precipitation, and the cold index temperature table. With this in mind, please be sure your child is always prepared to play outdoors so they are warm and comfortable. We do not have a space with additional supervision available in the event your child forgets to bring their coat, hat, gloves, etc. Thank you for reminding your child before they leave for school each day!

Butler Lost & Found

Butler has acquired a collection of jackets, sweatshirts, hats, gloves, and water bottles across varied outdoor recesses throughout the start of the school year until now. Lost and Found has located back to the gym atrium. Soon, we will send to donation. If you cannot seem to find your child's warm, outdoor clothing at home, there is a good chance it was left behind at school waiting for your retrieval! Please visit the main office to peruse the racks to find you child's missing item!

January Town Hall Meetings - Leadership! 1/11

As part of our Positive Behavior year-long initiative (PBIS), Butler Elementary continues to focus on our building-wide attributes! On Thursday, January 11th, Butler invited CB South coaching staff to share an important message about leadership and the importance of having student leaders on their teams.

Their message was impactful sharing how leaders make an impact on each of us. Family members, Teachers, Caregivers, Coaches, and Students can help us feel supported and encourage us to achieve our goals. As students - you can help others feel special by your words, actions, and the way you set an example for others. Most importantly, it’s about being a good person.

Coach Hetrick Identified his ideas of Leadership:

  • Comfortable and Confident in who they are.
  • Good listeners.
  • They have RESPECT and Do things the right way.
  • Community Builders.
  • Shows by example. Not just words.

Thank you to Coach Mattern, Casey, and Yo-Yo (CB South Girls Basketball) and Coach Hetrick (CB South Football) for joining and sharing what student leaders mean to our communities.

2nd Grade Virtual Field Trip - Heritage Conservancy

Butler 2nd Grade students had the opportunity to take a virtual trip where they “visited” Heritage Conservancy’s Durham Bat Mine, Quakertown Swamp, Jackson Pond, Croydon Woods, and Hart’s Woods Preserves - all located in Bucks County, PA. Students learned about the plants and animals that are able to survive in these local habitats. This was a wonderful culminating learning experience for the Second Grade Science unit on Habitats. Thanks to Shannon Siller (Butler Parent) and Kaylyn Brindisi (form Heritage Conservancy) for presenting to our students!
