From the Principal's Desk From the Principal's Desk

Dear SHS Families,

Picture Day went well this year, and to our surprise, the school was in full attendance! I was impressed with how well our students worked with the photographer and look forward to seeing the results. There is still time to order photos through our photographers at Strawbridge for those still looking to do so. More information can be found on the school website. Picture make-up or retakes will be on November 6th. More info to come.

The school published its report with the parish for September, and copies will be available for the public in the back of the Church following all weekend Masses this week. We have attached a copy of that report for school families to this newsletter, and hard copies are always available by request from the school office.

Teachers are set to undergo ALICE training on Monday, October 28th. We will be working with OPD to overview possible scenarios of imminent threats and how our staff can properly respond to them.

Halloween parties in SHS classrooms have been moved from Friday, Nov. 1, to Thursday, Oct. 31. Speaking of Halloween, we are approaching the time when students will be picking out their costumes. With that, I’d like to remind parents that costumes worn to school or school events should be fun and festive, and not grimacing or scary. We serve a wide age range of students here at SHS and costumes should be appropriate for all those age groups. Some guidelines to consider for school costumes are:

  • No make-up of any kind

  • Any costume that’s purpose is to frighten or instill fear is not allowed

  • Masks are discouraged. They may be worn, however, if they are deemed acceptable by the classroom teacher.

  • Props such as fake knives, swords, guns, or any other object that promotes violence are not allowed, Things such as wands and shields may be used at the discretion of the homeroom teacher

  • Fake blood of any sort is not allowed

  • Costumes that would interfere with a student’s ability to walk, move, or sit appropriately in the classroom are not allowed (inflatable suits, etc.)

With Faith & Hope,

Patrick (P.J.) Greer

*PLEASE NOTE*

The Virtus training originally scheduled for this Saturday has unfortunately been cancelled. If you were registered for the training, Carmelita Sieg should have already reached out to you with details and other training options. Sorry for an inconvenience.
