COLLABORATION WITH TOWN AND POLICE DEPARTMENT AIMS TO INCREASE STUDENT SAFETY COLLABORATION WITH TOWN AND POLICE DEPARTMENT AIMS TO INCREASE STUDENT SAFETY

The Elizabeth School District is proud to highlight the ongoing efforts of the Elizabeth Police Department and the Town of Elizabeth in ensuring the safety of students during bus pick-up and drop-off times throughout the municipality.

Throughout this school year, the district has faced several incidents where drivers disregarded school bus stop signs and flashing lights, creating dangerous situations for students boarding and exiting buses. In response to these concerns, the Town of Elizabeth’s Public Works Department collaborated with the school district’s transportation team to identify designated bus stops across the municipality. As a proactive measure, the town installed new signage at key locations, enhancing driver awareness of potential bus stops and student presence in these areas.

In addition to infrastructure improvements, the Elizabeth Police Department has stepped up enforcement efforts by increasing patrols during school transportation hours and following buses along their routes. This initiative has proven highly effective, leading to appropriate action being taken against drivers who violate bus safety laws.

“The safety of our students is our top priority, and we deeply appreciate the commitment of the Town of Elizabeth and the Elizabeth Police Department in addressing these concerns,” said Tyler Rabideau, School District Director of Safety and Security, a representative from the Elizabeth School District. “Their dedication to protecting our students and holding drivers accountable has strengthened our partnership and made a meaningful difference in our community.”

The Elizabeth School District extends its sincere gratitude to both the Town of Elizabeth and the Elizabeth Police Department for their continued collaboration and commitment to student safety. This partnership exemplifies the power of working together to foster a safer environment for all.

The district urges all drivers to remain vigilant, obey traffic laws, and always stop for school buses displaying flashing lights and extended stop arms. Ensuring student safety is a collective responsibility, and the cooperation of the entire community is vital in maintaining a secure environment for the children of Elizabeth.

For more information on school bus safety regulations or to report concerns, please contact the Elizabeth School District Transportation Department or the Elizabeth Police Department.

PROGRESS CONTINUES ON EHS AUTO BUILDING PROGRESS CONTINUES ON EHS AUTO BUILDING

interior pictures of the auto building at the high school

It's exciting to see the progress being made inside the EHS Auto Building. It was through a community fundraising effort earlier in the school year that has allowed for us to arrive at this moment in the project, where important features are being added.

As you can see in the pictures, electrical work is moving along and spray foam insulation has been added to the inside of all the exterior walls.

The ceiling above the classroom has been roughed in and will be full height.

In last week's Good News Bulletin, you probably noticed that the auto program was recently gifted some generous donations, including a fully stocked toolbox.

The students can't wait to put those tools and more to use inside the new auto building. We will continue to provide more updates as work makes progress.

INDEPENDENT CLASSICAL ACADEMY COMING TO ESD IN THE FALL 2025 INDEPENDENT CLASSICAL ACADEMY COMING TO ESD IN THE FALL 2025

THERE IS A NEW CLASSICAL CHARTER SCHOOL COMING TO ELIZABETH THIS

FALL! Independence Classical Academy (ICA), a new elementary classical

charter school, is coming to Elizabeth August 2025.

What sets Independence Classical Academy (ICA) apart from the other schools in the area is that it offers a classical education, which is grounded in the belief that education should cultivate wisdom as well as virtue.

Grammar, logic, and rhetoric provide the foundational framework through which students acquire knowledge, develop critical thinking, and master oral and written communication skills. In addition to providing intellectual rigor, foundation stones (virtues) are taught that instill a sense of moral responsibility. Through the Core Knowledge Curriculum which includes history, literature, science and art, students are reconnected with the wisdom of the past, preparing them to engage meaningfully with the challenges of the present, envision a better future, and develop a capacity to know the good, the true, and the beautiful.

With regards to location, for the first year (2025-2026), the plan is to hold classes in the Frontier School building on Banner Street in the town of Elizabeth while the new building is being built. Then, for the second year (2026-2027), the plan is to move into the new school building which will be located near the corner of CR 158 and Delbert Road in the new Independence Neighborhood. For students living in-district, busing will be provided by the Elizabeth School District starting in the fall of 2025 and will continue after the move into the new building.
