FABULOUS FIFTH GRADERS
Mrs. Woodbridge's Math Class
The 5th graders in Mrs. Woodbridge’s class celebrated Black History Month by creating Google Slides presentations about influential Black Americans. They proudly shared their presentations with the younger grades.
FANTASTIC FOURTH GRADERS
The fourth grade is currently working on the final lessons of the year in Science. Students have been investigating how internal and external parts of plants and animals contribute to their survival. Most notably, how animal senses have contributed to their survival. We have examined eye sight and pupil shape. Students have imitated Steelhead Trout and used the sense of smell to identify their way home. We have investigated our own reaction times compared to the reaction times of a dragonfly. Students are now investigating how sight and its ability to communicate information across long distances has aided the survival of humans.
ELA finds students continuing to work on figurative language, specifically similes and metaphors. Similes and metaphors are often found in literature and poetry. Authors use similes and metaphors to make comparisons that aides in a reader's understanding. Theme is also another literary element that is found in both literature and poetry. The theme of a story or poem conveys a message to all readers. Themes may encourage readers of a piece to work together, persevere through life's challenges or the importance of reading.
In Math, students have been working with fractions. In fourth grade, students add, subtract, compose, decompose, convert fractions to mixed numbers, find and identify equivalent fractions. Students are also adding and subtracting mixed numbers. Classes are also working on time and elapsed time. The next topic will focus on data such as line plots and the next benchmark will take place right before Spring Break.
TERRIFIC THIRD GRADERS
In Science we have begun the "ULTIMATE PLAYGROUND" where we are learning about force, push, pull, and gravity. Be sure to ask us about the playgrounds we are designing.
In Math we are getting ready for our third benchmark. We completed units in fractions, measurement, mass, and volume!
In Language Arts we are working in Module 6 and studying "Animals in Action". We have also been working on writing a friendly letter.
Please be sure to be completing homework nightly in IXL and AMIRA!
It is also time to replenish supplies! Please send in pencils, crayons, glue sticks, and check to see that your child has working headphones!
Below please the pics of Mrs. Suranyi's class celebrating filling their reward jar with a "Blackout Party", Mrs. Surayni really knows how to throw a party!
Miss Lee's SUPER SCIENTISTS!
Check out the experiments on FORCE AND MOTION that Miss Lee's scientists conducted.
SUPER SECOND GRADERS
In ELA, we wrapped up Module 5! As part of our learning, we discussed the qualities of a good leader and focused on several famous African American leaders who have made a positive impact on our world. Students practiced identifying leadership traits and reflecting on how they can show leadership in their own lives.
In Math, students completed Benchmark 2, which assessed Units 1–8. We are now beginning Unit 9, where we will focus on place value and working with numbers up to 1,000. Students will be building a deeper understanding of hundreds, tens, and ones.
In Science, we finished our “Garden of Life” unit. Students explored how to care for plants, how plants and animals work together, and learned about different types of pollinators. It was exciting to see their curiosity grow as they discovered how living things depend on one another.
We are looking forward to all of the exciting activities coming up in March!

LIBRARY with the WONDERFUL MS. PAULY
Our Aronimink students are busy in the library reading high-quality books by award-winning authors. First and second graders are continuing to strengthen their prediction and comprehension skills through engaging stories and discussions.
In third grade, students are reading short passages and practicing how to locate “right there” answers directly within the text to support their understanding.
Our fourth and fifth graders are reading award-winning novels in small groups, collaborating to discuss the story and answer comprehension questions thoughtfully and thoroughly.
ART WITH THE AWESOME MS. PAGANO
First-grade students explored the work of famous artist Jean-Michel Basquiat. They learned about his bold, expressive style and discovered why he often included his signature crown in his artwork. Students then created their own drawings and paintings inspired by Basquiat’s style, using symbols, colors, and words that represent who they are. The results were creative, meaningful, and full of personality!
