This past week, our Policy Debate team was hard at work at the National Speech & Debate Association's National Championship where our graduating 8th Graders Erick W. and Anedwin M. took home the title as the best middle school debaters in the country! We are so proud of their determination throughout their time at MS 50 which led to this moment. A huge shoutout to the entire team: Anedwin, Briana, Coco, Ella, and Erick who all finished in the Top 20 Speakers and Arceny, Pryce, and Ryley who finished in the Top 5! We could not be more proud of each and every one of you!

MS 50's Graduation is this week Wednesday, June 25th at 9AM! The ceremony is in the Grand Street Campus Auditorium which is air conditioned. Graduates will receive their cap and gown along with their five tickets tomorrow. We ask that graduates please arrive by 7:45AM and doors will open for guests at 8AM. All students and guests will need to walk through a metal detector, so please give yourself plenty of time in advance. A final reminder that no balloons are allowed inside Grand Street's campus. A livestream of the ceremony will be available at ms50.org/graduation.

We had a wonderful final PTA meeting of the year! We discussed our fundraising efforts over the course of the school year, had a presentation regarding ongoing efforts to ensure safety on the way to and from school, and celebrated the tenure of our president and vice presidents Nydia Southerland and Lamont Davis. We look forward to working with you again in the 2025-26 school year!

We have partnered "PRACTICE" to offer free, on-demand, virtual tutoring and homework assistance for MS 50 students! Tutoring is available in English, Spanish, or Mandarin, Monday to Friday, 4-8pm, starting NOW! You can book a session at the link below up to 24 hours in advance. Booking a session is simple; click on this video link to see how to sign up. Once you've submitted the form, you will receive an email confirmation with the Google meeting link for the session. Please note: student DOE emails are not compatible for session scheduling.

All MS 50 students are eligible for a FREE internet hotspot through T-Mobile's Project 10Million. This provides 100GB of yearly data for 5 years in addition to low-cost laptops and tablets for your student. When you apply online, use "NYC Chancellor's Office" for the school district and "Jhs 50 John D Wells" for school name.
