Reminders from Mr. Kusuda

Dear Waikiki School Ohana:

We need your help in maintaining a focused and safe environment for our students. To keep the focus on learning, please review our "Away for the Day" device guidelines with your child:

  • Backpacks Only: Cell phones must be turned OFF and kept in backpacks from the first bell to the last.

  • Smartwatches: While wearable tech is popular, using watches to text or record video during school hours is not permitted.

  • Connecting with Home: We know communication is important! If your child needs to reach you after school, they can do so in the designated pick-up zones after checking with a staff member.

  • Social Media & Gaming: To encourage real-world interaction, gaming and social media use are not allowed on campus. Devices used for these purposes may be held in the office for parent pick-up.

Campus Use After School and Weekends

We love seeing how much our students enjoy our play spaces! However, we want to share an important reminder regarding campus access. To ensure the safety of our facilities and the security of our grounds, campus is strictly off-limits during non-operational hours.

We have recently had reports of individuals climbing over or carrying children over locked gates and fences to access the playgrounds. While we appreciate the desire for playtime, this creates significant safety risks and liability concerns.

Please note that our custodial and security staff have been asked to verify the identity of anyone on campus after hours. To avoid any uncomfortable conversations or formal trespassing procedures, we ask that you please respect all locked gates and posted hours. Mahalo for helping us keep our school a safe environment for everyone!
