RILEY RECAP - VOLUME 3 ISSUE 13
January 26, 2024
From the Desk of Principal Henderson
Dear Riley Parents, Guardians, and Scholars:
Happy Friday! It is crazy to believe we are already at the end of January. The final few months of this year will truly fly by and we will be celebrating our class of 2024 at Notre Dame's Compton Family Ice Arena. We are continuing to reminder our scholars of our high expectations we have for them. Students need to ensure that they are bringing their IDs and wearing them around their necks from the time they enter the building to when they leave. Coats, hats and bags/backpacks(nonclear) are not to be worn in the building during the school day. Scholars need to make sure they are putting these things in their lockers when they enter the building.
Parking has been something we are working hard to get right so members of our community, families, district leadership, and guests have a spot to park when they come visit us here at Riley. Students need a parking permit (#300 or higher) which costs $10 to park at Riley. Students can park in the student lot, down across from the football field on Fellows or within the 15 spots (white lines) along the fence in the north teacher lot. The administration has begun tagging cars that do not have a permit and are parking in unauthorized spaces. Students have been asked to follow the expectations for parking. Fines, stickers, and possible towing will be in the future for repeaters who continue to park.
It is that amazing time of the year, the end of athletic regular seasons as we move forward into our IHSAA post-season play. Girls Swimming, Girls Basketball, and Wrestling are all beginning their post-seasons next week. We hope our students will come out and support their classmates as they participate in these games. We have a lot to be excited for here at Riley as our teams begin play. Good luck to all our students and coaches as we move to the post season.
THIS YEAR WE WILL RAISE THE BAR AT RILEY!
I am looking forward to working with you and your student as we work toward an academically successful school year. I can promise you the best of myself for your students each and every day. Please do not hesitate to contact me at shenderson2@sbcsc.k12.in.us if you have any questions or concerns during the year.
Our Goals:
1) Get students reading on grade level
2) A 95% attendance rate
3) A 90% graduation rate
We greatly appreciate the value that each and every one of our scholars and families brings to Riley. WE ARE THE PRIDE OF THE SOUTHSIDE! WE ARE #RILEYSTRONG!
Sincerely,
Shawn Henderson
