Happy Friday Mustang Families!

This week was a short, but awesome week!

  • NATIONAL BULLYING PREVENTION MONTH: October is National Bullying Prevention Month. Bullying Prevention Month is a nationwide call to action around educating communities to their roles in bullying prevention and to educate and raise awareness of bullying prevention. Everyone can share in the efforts to Stop Bullying and Stand Up for Kindness.
  • Fulton County and the Office of Student Supports are excited to recognize October as National Bullying Prevention Month and October 23rd-31st as Red Ribbon Week.

  • 🎗️BREAST CANCER AWARENESS MONTH: 🎗 The month of October is set aside as Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Every Tuesday throughout the month of October, we will wear Pink in honor of our cancer survivors and those battling breast cancer. We also ask that families consider donating $1.00 towards cancer research and finding a cure for breast cancer. Funds collected will be donated directly to the Susan G. Komen Race for a Cure Greater Atlanta. Last school year, we were able to donate over $300 to Susan B. Komen Race for a Cure Greater Atlanta. Let's surpass this amount this year and pink out Tuesdays! 🎗️🎗️🎗️🎗️🎗️🎗️

ALSO, next week is Cliftondale's THINK 🎗️PINK 🎗️ WEEK. Let's paint the city pink as we join the fight against breast cancer.

  • CANDY DONATIONS: We are excited to host our annual Trunk 'R Treating event on Monday, October 30th. We need your help! Please consider donating sealed - unopened- store purchased candy for this event.

  • 9-WEEK PROGRESS REPORTS: Did you know 9-week in progress grades are now accessible in the Parent and Student Portal in Infinite Campus? In FCS, we post grades every 4.5 weeks. For every 9-week grading period, teachers provide feedback to students and/or parents/guardians for Non-Academic Skills. Students are rating in the following areas: self-direction, collaboration, problem solving, and working habits. Additional information pertaining rating non-academic skills is accessible on the districts pages by CLICKING HERE.

If you have questions pertaining your child's grades or academic progress, please contact your child's teacher. In addition, teachers are conducting parent-teacher conferences throughout October. If you have not had the opportunity to meet with your child's teacher, please reach out to your child's teacher ASAP to schedule a session. We are happy to accommodate conference requests at any time.

Haven't registered for your account yet? REGISTER TODAY! Everything you need as a parent is contained in the parent portal. You can monitor your student's grades throughout the school year, review your child's schedule, download progress reports and report cards, update your contact information, register other students within your household, withdrawal your student and so much more! If you already have an account, you do not need to register again.

Please review Cliftondale's 2023-2024 School-Family Compact, Parent-Family Engagement Plan as well as Fulton County School's Parent-Family Engagement Plan by CLICKING HERE. Parents, school staff, and students partnered together to jointly develop the School-Family Compact and school Parent and Family Engagement Plan (PFEP). This was done through input collected from feedback forms, surveys, and input meetings held annually in the spring. The School-Compact explains how families and teachers will work together to make sure all students reach grade-level standards at Cliftondale Elementary School.

All students above 10 years of age and their parents/guardians are asked to digitally sign the School-Family Compact in the Infinite Campus Parent/Student Portal. Your digital signature acknowledges you have received, read, and agree to the School-Family Compact. Parents may CLICK HERE to access the parent and student portal in Infinite Campus. As you know, parent involvement is vital to your child’s academic success, which is why I am so excited to introduce a new learning tool to help enhance what I teach in the classroom. Over the course of the school year, we will be unveiling a series of parent units for you to complete so you are better able to help support their early literacy development at home.

These self-paced experiences, called Parent Units, are no more than 20 minutes from start to finish to complete. In the units, an easy-to-replicate strategy is provided for you to use at home. Each Parent Unit will launch monthly one at a time and will focus on different topics. We are kicking off the series with Unit 1 focusing on Oral Language.

I encourage you to take the time to complete these fun learning units, which can be found at the bottom of our school’s website and on the district website https://www.fultonschools.org/parentunits. Plus, parents will have the opportunity to earn a certificate for completing each unit!

Thank you for sharing your student with me. I look forward to partnering with you to give them the best education Fulton County Schools has to offer.

At Fulton County Schools, we prioritize student safety. Emergencies happen. When they do, preparedness is the key to handling them well. We ask that all parents or guardians who have not listed an emergency contact to update their emergency contact list to include one person who is not the parent/guardian. If the parent or guardian is not accessible due to an emergency, it is important that the school has an approved person to contact regarding your student.

Thank you for updating your emergency contacts at your earliest convenience.

Here are step by step instructions for updating your student’s emergency contacts and a link for doing so in the Parent Portal:

The consideration for gifted services may be reported or automatic as defined by the GaDOE Resource Manual for Gifted Education Services. The Fulton County School System screens all students for eligibility for gifted services twice a year and uses a systematic approach to identify highly capable students who may qualify for gifted services. The gifted teacher routinely reviews available data to refer students for further assessment. Students meeting either the automatic screening OR the classroom screening criteria AND who have supporting data gathered from test history, products, and/or advanced content levels are referred for additional testing to determine gifted eligibility.
