What's the Latest!?

Hello Hornet Families,

We have had great few days of school. Please reach out to teachers if you have questions about routines and classroom needs. Thank you to all of our parents that have patient with us for classroom assignments and the changes in traffic patterns. Please know that principals don't change things to create chaos, but for the safety of our students.

Bus Assignments - Please know that if your student's registration was completed after Aug 4th, then we bus services are not going to be available right away. Please download the Smart Tag App to see route and bus assignment information. Parents can call the office before 1pm and provide us with the newest bus information so their student can start riding the bus.

Sign Up for PTA - It is the season to join our Tom Green PTA so we can work together to support our kiddos and teachers. Even if you don't have time to participate, paying your PTA registration fee helps our PTA win campus awards and recognition and provides start-up funds for the year.

Technology Protection Plans - Please remember that Tech Protection Plans for ALL students at TGES are only $10! Please consider purchasing a tech protection plan for your student's school-issued device to avoid paying for repairs during the school year.

🚗 NEW TRAFFIC PATTERN FOR TGES 🚌

Arrival & Dismissal Changes

Due to campus construction, our arrival and dismissal procedures will change this school year.

Car riders will continue to use the front of school lane for drop-off and pick-up, BUT will have to go straight and not be able to turn around.
Bus riders will load and unload using the new fire lane behind the gym.
As always, we will have to allow buses to leave the campus first during dismissal, then cars and then lastly walkers. Please do not block entrances and exits to parking lots when sitting in the car rider lane in order to allow buses to go through.

We appreciate your patience as students and families adjust to these changes.

Walker Routes

The Green Meadows walker entrance will be closed this year because of the new traffic pattern. Students who walk to school will use the Stone Field/Meadows four-way stop walker route.

I also want to provide some background on the decision to walk kiddos to the 4 way stop. I was concerned about the safety of students walking along the back of the property with construction workers and construction vehicles going back and forth. Construction vehicles move onto the property ahead of the morning traffic and after dismissal. The next concern was students having to navigate the incoming car and bus traffic entering the school parking lot, especially with the current lack of a completed sidewalk. My goal was to make sure we were choosing the safest option for our students while that area is still under construction. Therefore, we determined that having students walk through the neighborhood toward Old Go Forth Rd and then turn right towards Old Tom Green Rd would be the safer option. We also have someone crossing kids and families in front of the small parking lot now that we have buses coming through the new gates, so it's a safer path to school.

Expectations for Morning Drop Off and Pick Up for the Year

Morning Drop Off - If you are dropping off students after 7:29am, make sure you are prepared to park your car and get off the car to sign your student in. We need your name, your students name and the reason your late to document it in our system. We will be allowing everyone to park in front of the school to get down. Thank you for your understanding.
Pick Up - Adults can not pick up students from school after 2pm. Students will have to go home AFTER school dismissal via car, bus or walker routes. This is due to safety.
Pick Up - If you are asked to park and show your ID in the front office in order to release your student, it is out of an abundance of caution. Your students are precious and we can't give them to just anyone. We will always check to be sure and safe for the sake of our Hornets.
