April 2nd, 3rd - 9th, 10th: Data Days - Click here to update your thoughts, concerns, and share outs. (No Title Teachers) just Counselors/Teacher/Me and looking at the whole child/math/gen ed reading specifically. [No RSP or Title talk at this time]

***There is room to move your time or add another 'session' if we don't make it through all of your students you want to discuss. Please reach out to me with any scheduling conflicts or move suggestions - there is a schedule overview on the first tab of the Data Day Planner to see where the openings are.

April 16th : Class Placement - Card Shuffle - You will receive cards in your mailbox this week - please have them filled out before we meet on 4/16! Blue cards are for boys. Pink cards are for girls. Purple cards are for any student with an IEP - (work with the case manager to decide if you should fill it out, they should fill it out or you both fill it out together [similar to report cards])

***DO NOT OVER THINK the info that cards on the card. It should be just a quick glance overview of each student. It is not the ultimate deciding factor of class placement but gives us the most balance start at class lists. We will use the PLC time on April 16th to shuffle cards and from there I will start the Google Doc of lists that we can then take a better look at - get specials, sped, and title input and from there make the lists more formal with all eyes on the lists.

April 21st - Master Schedule Debrief & Staff Mtg (PD Day - No Students).

April 22nd, 23rd, 24th: RSP Days - Title Teachers/Gen Ed Teacher/Me - in Title Room. We will only discuss RSP and Title students at this time.

***There is a chance these may be moved to a different day depending on the timing of MAP and EOY iReady Testing...

Bouquets of Kindness - Staff Families

🌸Let’s Kick Off Spring With Some KINDNESS! 🌸

Next week, we’re kicking off a new staff activity to celebrate spring, similar to our fall turkey project! On Monday, when you arrive you will find an empty vase hung outside your door. Your Staff Family Leader will deliver to you a set of flower and each flower has a different family members name at the top.

Here’s how it works:
🌿 Write a positive message to that family member on their flower. Could be a short positive quote, a compliment or just a happy reminder of how amazing ZE is!
🌿 Use the green paper strips as stems when adding the flower to their kindness bouquet.
🌿 Watch as the bouquets grow throughout the week!

Let’s spread kindness, brighten our hallways, and welcome spring together! 🌷💛

Rhonda Lee Outdoor Classroom Staff Service Learning Project Rhonda Lee Outdoor Classroom Staff Service Learning Project

Results are in....

Earlier this month, we sent out a survey to determine our staff service learning project. Through voting, it was decided that Shade and Privacy would be the focus for the outdoor learning space this year. Additionally, staff voted to name Rhonda’s scholarship the Lee’s Legacy of Love Scholarship, highlighting her nurturing spirit.

Mrs. Brunjes and Mrs. Short are working on a Rhonda Lee Remembrance Video to honor her memory and share her story as a beloved teacher, colleague, and friend in the MVR3 School District.

In her memory, Zitzman staff have raised approximately $1,500 to fund this initiative. We plan to offer a $500 scholarship to a PHS student from the 2025 graduating class, while reserving another $500 for a 2026 graduate. The remaining funds will support the outdoor learning space.

Currently, we are working with maintenance to explore privacy options for installation. We are also collaborating with Mrs. Brunjes to grow our fund, with ideas such as sucker sales and a bake sale at PHS events, where we already have the support of a former Zitzman teachers.

For the scholarship, we have reached out to PHS counselors to determine the next steps. Stay tuned for updates in the next S'MORE & be thinking if you would like to serve on the Scholarship Committee as applications come in we will need a committee to review them and score them based on our rubric to help decide our 2025 Lee's Legacy of Love Scholarship Recipient.

Community Connection Opportunity Community Connection Opportunity

Bank of Washington Opportunity to Support

I received this email prior to the storm that hit their building... but if any grade level is interested - here is the opportunity below. - Deadline to get back to them is Monday April 3rd!

My name is Kendall Lange, and I am writing you on behalf of the Bank of Washington. Teaching kids to be smart money savers and making the right financial decisions is a cause that we take very seriously at the Bank of Washington. One of the things we do in our community to help encourage this behavior is provide lessons to children though the national program, “Teach Children to Save.” In the past, we were able to reach over 900 area students in our community through this program, and your school was one of the participants! Our hope is that you saw value in the program and would be willing to participate again this year. Each lesson takes about 20-30 minutes, and a representative from our Bank would come to your school and teach your students in such areas as saving, budgeting and prioritizing spending habits. The students and staff will also receive a small gift as a token of our appreciation.

To get started, we simply need your help in forwarding this email to your teachers, requesting the following information:

1. If interested in participating, please give the preferred date and time that we can present to your classroom. (Available any time in April and May)

2. An alternative date and time if one is available.

3. How many students are in the class?

4. What is the grade level of students in the classroom?

5. What is the name of the teacher?

6. What is the name of the school?

7. Please forward this information to klange@bankofwashington.com and rlause@bankofwashington.com

We are looking forward to presenting this successful program and hope you are able to join us in teaching your students good saving habits! If I could have a response for those who are interested by Monday April 3rd, we will begin the scheduling process. Please let me know if you have any questions, and thank you for the opportunity to meet with your students!

Up to 25 voters this week... and ENDLESS ENERGY (Goodbye, teacher tired) - wouldn't that be glorious!

Here are four quick ways to boost your energy this spring:

☀️ Get Outside & Soak Up the Sun – A little fresh air and natural sunlight can boost your mood and energy levels by increasing vitamin D and serotonin.

🚰 Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate – Warmer weather means your body needs more water! Staying hydrated prevents fatigue and keeps you feeling refreshed.

🏃‍♂️ Move More – A quick walk, stretch, or even 10 minutes of light exercise can wake up your body and improve circulation.

🥗 Spring Clean Your Diet – Swap out heavy winter comfort foods for fresh fruits, veggies, and lighter, nutrient-packed meals to keep your energy levels up.

As we work to improve communication and engagement, we’d love your input! I know it is late in the year but this is a good time to switch things up for this last trimester and do a little trial and error to see what works best for everyone moving forward...

Which option is best for staying informed and connected?
