ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE - Mr. DePaula
Dear Nederland Families,
I’m excited to share some great news. Nederland Middle-Senior High School was recently recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the best high schools. Here is where you can find out more.
Although this is an important recognition, it really highlights what we already know - there is amazing work happening in our classrooms every day. It reflects the dedication of our students, teachers, families and community. But there is always more work to do. Our goal is for every student to succeed, and we’re committed to continuing that work until we get there.
I’ve witnessed firsthand the importance of strong schools. Growing up in Colorado, I attended D’Evelyn Junior-Senior High School, one of the highest ranked schools in the nation. When I arrived at college, I quickly realized how well it had prepared me. But the foundation of this success was really initiated by the quality learning and structures that I experienced in middle and elementary school.
One of the things that makes Nederland so special is that most of our students are part of the same school community from kindergarten through 12th grade. That kind of consistency builds strong relationships, shared expectations, and a positive learning culture, all of which lead to student success.
At Nederland Middle-Senior, we’re dedicated towards providing excellent student experiences and outcomes. By staying grounded in our three pillars of Learning, Involvement, and Community, we believe we can reach that goal.
There’s always more work to do, and we’re excited to partner with you as we move forward together. Have a great weekend!
Mr. DePaula

BVSD
Free Dental Care
Colorado Mission of Mercy (COMOM) is a nonprofit organization that hosts a large-scale, two-day free dental clinic in a different Colorado community each year. Since 2007, COMOM has served more than 20,000 patients and provided over $18 million in donated dental services.
The clinics are open to anyone in need and are held in large venues—such as schools or event centers—that they transform into fully functional, 125-chair dental facilities. Over two days, patients receive cleanings, fillings, root canals, extractions, dentures, and ceramic crowns—all at no cost. This effort is made possible through the support of nearly 200 volunteer dentists, along with hygienists, assistants, lab technicians, healthcare professionals, and hundreds of community volunteers. Beyond relieving pain, they restore oral health and appearance—helping patients regain confidence, dignity, and even employment opportunities.
This year, the clinic will be held in Loveland at The Ranch on October 17–18. They expect to serve more than 1,600 patients with the help of over 2,000 volunteers. Because of Loveland’s proximity, this could be a valuable resource for many BVSD students and families.
