Hello from Principal Guditus

Hello Eddy Families,

Tomorrow, we enter our last week of the 25-26 school year, and it has been memorable one for sure! This newsletter is our last regular installment of weekly updates to you as parents and caregivers for this school year, but don't worry! You will hear from me over the summer via email, text, phone, and the Nauset app if you have it downloaded. I will let you know more about summer math and reading engagement, 26-27 classroom placements, and summer building tours for students.

Fifth graders had a fantastic glow-themed fifth grade social on Thursday evening, and a huge shoutout goes to the fifth grade team for all their planning, decorating, and chaperoning...and to our fifth grade parents and caregivers who volunteered as well. A great time was had by all! Thank you also to the Brewster PTO for their support for food, snacks, and decorations!

Fourth graders presented their extraordinary first-person biography projects at the annual Biography Bonanza on Thursday afternoon. Students worked so hard creating terrific first-hand accounts of historical figures, and embodied their research projects. A job well done to our fourth grade students and fourth grade staff for supporting our students in the hard work in this learning opportunity (see pictures below!).

Third graders visited the Grist Mill this past week to learn more about Brewster history, and this week will have their last field trip of the year, to Mant's Landing.

We welcomed second graders to Eddy this past week, who walked the path from Stony Brook to Eddy. Mrs. Bono and I spoke with second graders and answered their questions, and then a wonderfully enthusiastic group of fifth graders served as tour guides and provided a guided tour of Eddy Elementary School to our rising third graders and second grade staff members.

A reminder that our fifth graders have their fifth grade moving up ceremony this Wednesday, June 24 @ 9am, with light refreshments, celebrating, and photos afterwards. The weather looks to be great on Wednesday morning for us to celebrate and have photo opportunities outside. There is no dress code for this event, but fifth graders are welcome to dress up for moving up if they would like (please, nothing more than classy casual!).

Current Second, Third, and Fourth Grade Families: If you would like to order school supplies and have them sent directly to school for your student to receive them in the fall, the deadline to order is July 1. This is not a fundraiser, and the company, 1st Day School Supplies, has high-quality supplies they use, usually at or below retail cost because they buy in bulk (and shipping is free to school). You can order here:

https://1stdayschoolsupplies.com/gs/48735

Our last day of school for students is this Friday, June 26 and is a full day of school with dismissal at 2pm.

There are two Brewster Elementary-related Whitecaps games coming up if you are interested in attending at Stony Brook:

  • Wednesday, June 24 @ 5pm: Eddy Chorus and Stony Brook 2nd graders sing the National Anthem (those singing should arrive at 4:30pm)
  • Monday, June 29 @ 5pm: Brewster PTO Night at Brewster Whitecaps

Here's to a great last week of learning at Eddy Elementary School! Happy Fathers Day to all our fathers!

Best,

Steve Guditus

Student Supply Ordering For Next School Year 26-27

We are partnering with 1st Day School Supplies to provide convenience for families for supply lists. This is entirely optional, and is offered solely as a convenience for families. If you would like to purchase items on the supply lists for next year, the deadline is July 1. All items are high quality (think: Crayola crayons, Ticonderoga pencils), and because the company buys in bulk, the cost is typically comparable or cheaper than going to Staples or Target or Amazon. Items ship directly to Eddy at no cost, and we will provide the supplies to students directly the first week of school. This is not a fundraiser, so all prices come directly from the company. If you prefer to purchase items on the supply list yourselves, that is not a problem at all.

A reminder that the deadline to order a supply box is July 1.
