Principal's Message

Dear Families,

Exam Week is here. Students who take high school credit courses will be taking midterms on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday mornings. Please avoid any school absences on these days. If it is unavoidable, please complete a pre-planned absence form as soon as possible and send it to the main office.

This week is a big week at New Albany Middle School. Our students will take part in a historic event, “House Selection”. We have been planning for this event since this past summer and are ready to launch. House Selection Days will take place this Thursday for 8th graders and Friday for 7th graders. Follow our Instagram page for live updates from this event. For more information on House, please visit our school website at ms.napls.us. We also have an interactive House Guidebook on our school website that provides a complete overview of our House System.

Winter break begins on December 21, 2024. Students return to school on January 6, 2025. We wish you all a wonderful winter break and a Happy New Year.

Mr. Kevin L. Freeman Sr.
Principal

Checking Out Early This Week?

If you are planning to vacation before Friday, December 20, 2024 please make sure you consider the following:

  1. Students who take HS credit courses have midterm exams that need to be completed prior to leaving for winter break.

  2. House selection is taking place this week on Thursday and Friday. We will allow students who complete a Pre-planned absence form to select the house prior to leaving. This selection will be completed in the main office on Wednesday afternoon.

  3. Any student who begins their winter break early must complete a pre-planned absence form prior to their first day of absence from school.

Parent Drop Off and Pick Up Procedure Reminders

The tennis court parking lot is not to be used as a pick up or drop off. Please utilize the McCoy Outer Loop or MS/HS loop.

Study Center Reset

We are making adjustments to study center assignments for 7th graders for the second semester. These changes are being made to provide specific academic support to some students and to even our the study center class enrollments. The changes will be reflected on your student’s schedule by January 7, 2024.

Guest Speaker

New Albany Middle School is honored to have Debbi Sugarman, the daughter of a Holocaust survivor, share her father's story of survival, resilience, and hope on January 22, 2025. This personal testimony will offer students a unique perspective on the Holocaust, highlighting its profound impact on families, communities, and nations—experiences that cannot be fully conveyed through images or textbooks. If you would like your student to Opt-Out, please fill out this form.

HS Registration Night - 8th Grade Only

We invite you to attend New Albany High School’s Registration Night on Monday, January 27, 2025 from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. This is an event to support families as they navigate the scheduling process for the next school year. The evening includes presentations as well as a curriculum fair where our teachers will be available to answer questions about course offerings. A more detailed agenda for the event will be communicated in early January.
