Message from the Principal

Dear Oakville Families,

As we close another incredible school year, I want to take a moment to thank our students, families, staff, PTA, and community partners for making Oakville such a special place.

This year has been filled with learning, growth, laughter, and countless moments that reminded us why elementary school is such an important chapter in a child’s life. We have celebrated academic successes, artistic performances, athletic achievements, acts of kindness, and the everyday moments that make our school community strong.

I am especially proud of our Otters for the way they have embraced our PAWS expectations: doing their Personal Best, Acting Responsibly, Working Hard, and putting Safety First. Whether in classrooms, hallways, on the playground, or during school events, our students have continued to demonstrate the character and resilience that make Oakville such a wonderful place to learn and grow.

This year also reminded us of the power of partnership. The support of our families, volunteers, and PTA has enriched the educational experience for every student. From classroom activities and field trips to community events and fundraising efforts, your contributions have made a meaningful difference.

To our fifth-grade students and families, congratulations on reaching this important milestone. We are proud of all you have accomplished during your time at Oakville and look forward to watching you continue to grow and succeed in middle school and beyond. Once an Otter, always an Otter.

As summer begins, I encourage everyone to take time to relax, explore, play, read, and make memories with family and friends. We hope our students return in the fall refreshed, confident, and ready for another year of learning.

Thank you for sharing your children with us each day. It is truly a privilege to be part of their educational journey.

Have a safe, happy, and memorable summer!

Otterly Yours,

Mrs. Anderson

Technology

St. Mary’s County Public Schools (SMCPS) students use the Internet and other instructional computer resources in school. It is important that you and your student review this information each year. Within this policy is the Google Workspace for Education Additional Services Agreement. Students in grades PreK - 5th grade do not need to complete an AUP this school year. They will not be accessing additional services within Google Workspace for Education beyond the core features.

All SMCPS laptops come with the same responsibility of care and upkeep as any other loaned resources. Textbooks, novels, laptops and chargers can incur a debt if lost or damaged. Please refer to the student accountability newsletter that has been added to our weekly school newsletters. Chargers are to remain at home.

Note from the Nurse

Hello Oakville Families!

I welcome communication in whatever way is easiest for you—feel free to send an email, call the office, or stop by the school to chat in person.

As a gentle reminder, if your child has any specific medical needs—chronic or acute—please reach out to me directly. This includes new diagnoses, required medications or treatments while at school, or any communicable illnesses such as flu, COVID-19, pneumonia, or others.

Please be sure to be on the lookout for communication from me regarding end-of-year procedures for students with medications.

Warmly,

Mrs. Hall
