Grades 5-8 MOY Testing Wednesday, January 17 9am-2pm
Our 5th-8th graders will be on campus from 9am-2pm. Students should bring any food/drinks that they may need during this time. I recommend wearing layers as we never know what the building temperature will be like (it is usually cold!). They also need to bring their charged laptop, charger, and pencils.
Q2/S1 Report Cards- Available January 10
Second quarter report cards are available in student folders. All students have a student folder that has been shared with them through Google Drive. Teachers are no longer able to email reports to email addresses outside of PCS so parents will need to use their child's school email to access reports. Students were notified through email that a folder has been shared with them. The name of their folder is "last name, first name." You can also find it in their Google Drive by searching their name or by clicking on "shared with me" on the left side of Google Drive.
The best place to find updated grades is in PowerSchool. Grades are updated in PowerSchool weekly. If you do not have access to PowerSchool, please let me know. If you need to schedule a conference with any of your child's teachers, please email them directly.
NC School of Science and Math
We align with the traditional school calendar with PCS and the first day for students is Thursday, January 4,2024. PCSVA utilizes the Google Workspace platform where teachers will instruct using both Google Meet and Google Classroom. PCSVA courses are asynchronous on Wednesdays.
Students enrolled in grades 9-12 also participate in courses on the North Carolina Virtual Public Schools (NCVPS) platform. These courses begin on Wednesday, January 18, 2024 and courses for students who are enrolled at PCC will begin on Monday, January 8, 2024. NCSSM courses will begin on Monday, January 29, 2024.
Students enrolled in courses on platforms other than Google Classroom through PCSVA will need to be mindful of how to login to and check the course dates. Students will receive detailed information from course instructors.

Class of 2024 Scholarship Opportunities
The Next NC Scholarship
The Next NC Scholarship is a financial aid program that helps most North Carolinians from households making $80,000 or less pursue a higher education, by fully covering tuition and fees at any community college in the state or more than half of, if not all, tuition and fees to attend any public university in North Carolina.
Students attending a North Carolina community college will receive at least $3,000 - more than the cost of full-time tuition. Those attending a public university will receive a minimum of $5,000, which pays for more than half, if not all, of tuition and fees.
Applying is simple. Students will just need to submit the FAFSA form, and if they're eligible, they will receive the Next NC Scholarship. There are no additional forms to fill out!

School Calendars
Piedmont Community College Calendar
Our program is designed to focus on effectively providing a high-quality, virtual learning environment for all students and we ask that families commit to being enrolled for the entire school year. Student engagement is critical in the virtual learning environment; therefore, students will be expected to keep their cameras on during synchronous (live) instruction with their teachers and peers. Attendance will be taken based on this policy. There will also be opportunities daily for students to work asynchronously and having parent/family support is strongly encouraged.
While we are able to instruct our students virtually, all district and state-mandated assessments will need to be conducted in person onsite at our location. Assessment schedules and detailed instructions will be provided in advance of each district and state-mandated assessment for 5-12 students.
