Notes from Norburg

Dear Mesquite Elementary Families,

Welcome back from Fall Break! We have had a great and busy first week back. This week I would like to highlight and say thank you to our amazing fifth grade team. We are grateful for the rigorous expectations that Ms. Eberhardt, Mrs. Schock, and Mrs. Welling provide for our students! Fifth grade is a year of great learning, growth, and challenging experiences. We are grateful for a team that is dedicated to the success of every student! We appreciate our fifth grade team and the difference they make at Mesquite!

If you have not yet completed your Annual Update on Infinite Campus we ask that you please do so. We have had 90.27% of families complete their child's Infinite Campus Annual Update! This information on Infinite Campus allows us to communicate with you each week through campus messages. In addition to this, updated information allows us to reach you or emergency contacts for your child in the event of an emergency. Even if no information has changed, we still ask that you verify this by completing the Annual Update. Please see this video for more information about the importance of Annual Updates with our Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education and other district departments with directions about how to complete the update. We truly appreciate Mrs. Janine who has been working to get all accounts updated! Thank you Mrs. Janine!

Sincerely,

Wendy Norburg

Way to go Lucas!

Mrs. Borger reports that Lucas has been a model student from day one in our class. He is a respectful, honest and fun friend to all. I can always count on him to be helping friends in need and leading by example throughout each day. I am very proud of you, Lucas! Thank you for being a friend to all and someone I can count on to be doing the right thing.

Election November 5 - GPS Budget Override Continuation Information

Gilbert Public Schools Governing Board approved that in November 2024, voters living within Gilbert Public School boundaries will decide on a proposed 15% budget override continuation. This would be a continuation of the existing budget override approved by voters in November 2019 and in place since the 2020/21 school year. The existing override generates approximately $36 million annually to:

  • ensure competitive salaries to recruit and retain high-quality teachers and staff in classrooms,
  • maintain programmatic choices for students creating future ready graduates,
  • maintain campus safety and security personnel and,
  • maintain class sizes with allocation to class size reduction.
