Measles Update Measles Update

As news is shared regarding measles outbreaks throughout North Carolina and the country, please know that there is no confirmed case in Durham Public Schools, and that we are continuously working with the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services and the Durham County Department of Public Health to remain proactive.

If we do not have a record of your child’s measles vaccination or documented exemption, please submit it to the school as soon as possible. If your child has not received the measles vaccination, please contact your health provider as soon as possible. The Durham County Department of Public Health can also provide vaccinations. They may be reached at (919) 560-7645. Should you have any questions about this respiratory virus, please consult your physician or the district’s Lead Nurse Regina Blackmon at regina_blackmon@dpsnc.net.

Jordan Beautification Spring 2026! Jordan Beautification Spring 2026!

Come on Saturday, March 14th, 9-12 to help work outside to spruce up the outside of Jordan High. We'll meet in the front of the school and do things like weeding, picking up trash, planting. Please bring gloves or any tools you might have. We need students AND adults to help and it is a great way to get to know folks and to help the school. It is a great way to get service hours, too!

2026-2027 Class Selection Process 2026-2027 Class Selection Process

The 2026-2027 class selection process has started. This past week, students were given time in advisory to select their courses using the Rising 10th-12th Grade Course Selection Sheet. They were able to plan their selections on the Course Selection Worksheet. Students should now be discussing their selections with their families to ensure they are confident about the courses they want to take. All information regarding the class selection process (course catalog, applications, parent night video, etc) are located on the Student Services Class Selection Page. This is your one stop shop for EVERYTHING you need to know regarding the class selection process.

All 9th-11th grade students will have a chance to meet with their School Counselor so that we can input their selections. One-on-one meetings started on February 17th and will end on March 17th. Students will come to student services with their history class. If they do not have history this semester, one of their teachers will send them to student services once they receive the list with their name. We will begin meeting with freshmen first. Once we finish meeting with students on March 17th, there will be no more edits to their course selections.
