Mr. Roberson's Report
August 8, 2026
Welcome back, Soaring Hawk!
The countdown is officially on! Just 5 days until our halls are filled with students again! Our staff has been busy preparing, learning, planning, and getting everything ready for an incredible year ahead. The excitement of new beginnings, new goals, new friendships, and endless opportunities to grow is what we are so excited for. We can’t wait to welcome our Soaring Hawk students and families back and watch them learn, grow, take risks, and SOAR!

Introducing Duke the Maltipoo!
Soaring Hawk Elementary is incredibly excited to announce that an Animal-Assisted Intervention (AAI) program is coming to the school to promote social/emotional well-being.
AAI is a goal-directed and evidence-based intervention, in which an animal that meets specific criteria is an integral part of the process. This intervention will include a certified professional who is either a school staff member or volunteer working within their scope of competency. AAI is designed to promote improvement in human physical, social, emotional, behavioral, and cognitive functioning.
The program may include small group and/or individual interventions focused on social and emotional wellness and humane education. Participating in this program and interacting with a therapy dog is entirely voluntary. Our school will utilize this program as a part of research-based practice and interventions specific to the needs of students.
The therapy dog and its handler have been insured for liability and have undergone extensive training and certifications for Animal-Assisted Interventions. They have been approved by DCSD to work within Soaring Hawk as a Certified Therapy Dog team.
Should you have any other questions, concerns, or comments, please email me at dkkolojay@dcsdk12.org
