August 2025
Welcome back, LISD family!
It gives me immense pride and joy to kick off the 2025-26 school year here in Lewisville ISD. On Tuesday, Aug. 12, we welcomed back more than 45,000 students to our campuses united in purpose and possibility. I am so excited to see what this school year brings for our district, and that your family has chosen to be on this educational journey with us.
I want to thank you for your understanding and patience as we continue working through routines and procedures that are established the first few weeks of school, whether that be during arrival and dismissal, or as a family utilizing LISD’s in-house transportation services. I am reading every comment, email and message, making adjustments where needed, and am confident in the coming weeks we will successfully settle into our processes, making the travel to and from school less stressful for all.
This past spring, lawmakers convened for the 89th Legislative Session, of which resulted in changes and amendments to some of our policies and procedures. As district leaders continue to work through and decipher the changes, we will keep you updated as implementation continues. One area heavily impacted is our Student Code of Conduct. I’ve highlighted a few changes for you in my newsletter below, but I encourage you to read through the document to stay informed. I also want to encourage you to interact with your local elected officials to make your voice heard on important topics that impact our community and kids.
I also want to encourage you to stay engaged with your campuses newsletters and social media channels, and to be on the lookout each month for my RAPPort messages. They are filled with important updates and information to keep you informed throughout the school year.
Thank you for your continued support of LISD, and for choosing our district as your home.
Dr. Lori Rapp, Ed.D.
Superintendent of Schools

Surplus Property Update
At this month's board meeting, the Board approved designating several district-owned properties as surplus, which gives us the flexibility to explore opportunities to sell, lease, or develop these properties in ways that best support our students and community. Read the full update HERE.
School Ratings
The Texas Education Agency (TEA) will release the latest state accountability ratings on Aug. 15. These ratings measure factors like student achievement on STAAR, academic growth, and preparation for college, careers, or the military. While they provide one snapshot of progress, in LISD we believe students are far more than a test score. That’s why LISD creates Campus Profiles, a local accountability measure to share a fuller picture of the rich educational experiences we provide. Find your school's profile HERE.

Contacting Your Campus
If you need to reach your child’s campus during the school day, the best and quickest way is by calling the main phone number listed on the campus website. To help keep our staff safe from cyber threats, we’ve made a few changes to the way contact information is shared online. But don’t worry, teachers and staff will continue to connect with families through the same trusted communication tools you’ve always used. Plus, we’re refreshing our staff introduction pages so you can match names to smiling faces, so stay tuned!

School Safety: It's no joke!
As we begin the year, it is important we set our students up for success, reminding them that school safety is no joke. Every threat, every message, and every post is taken seriously. Threats can lead to significant school discipline, and in some cases, criminal charges that have lasting impacts. The video below will be shared with students districtwide as a reminder to report, don't repost, if they see a threat on social media. The LISD community uses STOPit, an anonymous reporting system that allows individuals to submit concerns at any time, from anywhere. Visit LISD.net/safety for more information about this resource and how to access it. The tip line is now open for the 2025-26 school year.
Student Code of Conduct Updates
Many laws related to student discipline were added or amended as part of the 89th Legislative Session, including new mandatory expulsion policies, the designation of a Campus Behavior Coordinator for each school, the inclusion of a policy related to the use of artificial intelligence in a way that would constitute academic dishonesty, and more. The new Code of Conduct also includes consequences related to the new personal communication device policy. View the Texas Education Policy's report regarding the changes as a result of new or amended laws [HERE]. To view the 2025-26 Student Code of Conduct, click HERE.
New Policies and Procedures
In case you missed it, there are a few new policies in place for the 2025-26 school year, including the implementation of weapon detection scanners at all high school campuses and stadiums; the personal communication device policy in accordance with HB 1481; and the clear bag policy for all stadiums and arenas.

Region 11 Accolades
This summer, the Texas Association of School Boards named Lewisville ISD Superintendent Dr. Lori Rapp as the Region 11 Superintendent of the Year, an honor that reflects not only her leadership, but also the extraordinary people who make up the LISD community. This recognition shines a spotlight on the district’s culture of excellence, built through the dedication and collaboration of staff, students, families, and community partners. That leadership was further affirmed when Flower Mound 9th Grade Campus teacher Tim Fails was named Region 11 Secondary Teacher of the Year, another example of how LISD is being celebrated across the state for the remarkable work happening every day.
Attendance = Momentum! You can’t make progress if you’re not in the room. Be present. Be prepared. Be powerful. 💪📚 #PresentForTheFuture #ONElisd
