A MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL

Hello Montessori Families!

Week 2 is in the books! We capped it off with an Eggcellent Shellebration to welcome our chickens! Students were very busy this week - getting back into routines, learning new works and we started our fall assessments. Students in 5K through 8th grade complete screening assessments 3 times a school year - fall, winter and spring. They take short reading and math tests to help teachers adjust instruction and track progress. Next week, you will receive an invite to a digital portal, NextPath, which will house all your child's assessment results. You will be able to see results from last school year already. Before September 25th, you will get the results of your child's fall screening assessments for this school year. Keep an eye on your email!

Due to unforeseen circumstances, sweet and sour chicken will be substituted on the Monday menu, September 14th. We will be serving chicken tenders with rice in its place.

PTSA CORNER

WMS PTSA Tailgate: Sunday, Sept. 13 3-6 p.m.

Mark your calendars for the 2nd Annual Wauwatosa Montessori PTSA Tailgate Party! Watch the Packers play the Vikings and compete in (or just enjoy!) a chili and dessert competition. There will be games, crafts, additional snacks for purchase and more. Sign up for the chili and dessert competition here!

PTSA Meeting: Tuesday, Sept. 15, 7-8:30 p.m.

All are welcome to join for the first Wauwatosa Montessori School Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) meeting of the year! Join via Zoom or attend in-person. Use the 'Gym Entrance' doors. We meet in the AP Classroom (Room 30), which is the second door on the right. Become a member of the PTSA here!

Each teacher has different ways they need support. You may assist with classroom celebrations, coordinating parent volunteers, field trips support and other classroom needs. Each classroom also organizes one staff appreciation lunch per school year. Children’s House helpers will also coordinate the Small Hands fundraiser this fall.

Field Trips are Starting!

We have a strong tradition of expanding our in school learning by going on field trips! Each class goes on about one per month. All permission slips are now through Infinite Campus. See the directions below on how to fill out a permission slip.

A HUGE thank you to our PTSA for funding all field trip buses this year! Buses are very expensive!

Hands-on Helpers Needed!

Looking for a way to contribute to our PE program? We have some equipment repair/build needs!

Project 1: Sewing the bottoms of our burlap potato sacks (Field Day)

Project 2: Working on our Montessori inventory of rollerblades/skates (some will need professional repair or simply replacement, some need DIY maintenance, and all need cleaning)

Project 3: Building some plyometric boxes for vertical jumping

Weekly Photos

AP students learned about government by making pizza! Groups were assigned different types of government, then had to decorate their pizza with toppings to represent their government. They also had to create a flag and short motto for their pizza nation! It was a delicoius lesson!

Fresh Hot Popcorn every Tuesday

We will once again have the opportunity to order popcorn on Tuesdays. The price is $.75 per bag. Students order it on Tuesday morning and the Next Steps crew make the popcorn and deliver it same day. So yummy!
