Woodlawn Update
2023-2024
FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Woodlawn Families,
I hope this message finds you all well and excited for the new school year! As the summer break ends, I am excited to extend a warm welcome back to all of you! The Woodlawn Elementary staff and I look forward to starting a new school year.
Our team has worked hard over the summer to prepare engaging and innovative lesson plans to challenge and excite your children. We are committed to providing a well-rounded educational experience to prepare them for success.
Our key priority is to foster a positive and inclusive school climate where all students feel safe, supported, and valued. When students feel connected to their school community, they are more likely to succeed academically. This year we will be launching our new social-emotional curriculum, Character Strong.
We also want to invite you to get involved in our school community. There are many ways to do this, such as attending parent-teacher conferences, joining the PTO, Site Council, or volunteering in the classroom. Your involvement is essential to the success of our school, and we appreciate your support. Look for sign-up opportunities at the Back-to-School Night, on our social media pages, and by email.
Here are some of the specific areas we are focusing on this year:
- Attendance: We know that regular attendance is essential for student success. We will work with families to ensure that all students attend school regularly.
- AVID: This year, we are excited to offer AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination). AVID is a college and career readiness program that helps students develop the skills and knowledge they need to succeed in college and beyond.
- Math Fluency: We are focusing on helping all students reach math fluency by providing a variety of practice methods, targeted instruction, and a positive and supportive environment.
We are so excited to start another year with all of you. Thank you for your continued support of Woodlawn Elementary School. Please don't hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
I look forward to seeing you all soon!
-Jayci
