Heartland High School Counseling
26/27: Volume I Newsletter
August 2026
Welcome Heartland High School Students to 2026/2027!
Your High School Counselors are wishing you a wonderful start to the 26-27 academic school year!
As Fall Semester begins, it is important to understand who is available to support you at Heartland. We care about your day-to-day success and your long term goals. At Heartland, you belong to a team composed of:
- Yourself (Student)
- Parent/Guardian (Learning Coach)
- HST
- High School Counselor
If you have an IEP or a 504, you will see us attend your meetings and collaborate with other team members like your 504 Coordinator, or SPED Case Manager and Transition Specialist.
We encourage you to be involved in High School! We hope you create memorable years and friendships through Heartland clubs, Heartland Live, Heart School, field trips, and other offerings where you can feel connected to your Heartland community. We also invite you to get involved in outside of school opportunities as well! The best extracurricular activities should match your interests and passions. Rather than joining many different groups or clubs, focus on the ones that spark your talents. Colleges/Scholarships look for longevity and commitment as well as leadership characteristics shown in your involvement.
Connect with us. We are all in this together!
From your High School Counselors, you will expect to see these opportunities:
High School 4-year Planning
Career Planning
College Advising
Concurrent Enrollment
Area Specific Resources
Community College Liaison Presentations and Workshops
School Counselor-led Presentations: College, Career, Financial Aid, Application Workshops, Grade-level Preparedness etc.
Local Events like College and Career Fairs
Regular communication/posts on Canvas
And much more!

HS Counseler Canvas
All HS Students have received an invitation to participate in the Cavas course: High School Counselor Canvas. Please encourage your students to accept this invitation. This will be the HS Counseling information hub, replacing the HS Grade-Level Google Classrooms. High School Counselor Canvas will be a great place to explore HS Counseling Resources and to stay connected with the Counselors!
*Please note that HS Counselor caseloads shifted slightly for the 26-27 school year due to final enrollment numbers.
