Year 3 trip to Fountains Abbey Year 3 trip to Fountains Abbey

This week, Year 3 have visited Fountains Abbey to conclude our learning about monasteries and the Tudor era, where we loved learning about the life of Henry VIII. The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves, in spite of the heat, and were inquisitive about the abbey, drawing on their knowledge. They particularly loved exploring the abbey’s former prison and toilets! We even enjoyed an ice cream to finish the hot day! The children were role models for our school, which was noted by members of the public.

Year 3 School Linking Year 3 School Linking

Over the last two weeks, Year 3 have enjoyed taking part in the Bradford School Linking programme, matched with Dixons Marchbank Primary. They have spent time with their link classes, building new friendships and making lasting memories. At Low Ash, we introduced our friends to our Forest School, where we toasted marshmallows over a fire and built dens. At Dixons Marchbank, the children loved creating friendship loom bands together, orienteering and playing board games. We had so much fun and celebrated what has been an excellent year of linking!

Some Year 5 children attended "Come and play with the Halle" yesterday at St George's Hall. Despite the heat, the children had an absolutely fantastic experience listening to a professional orchestra play live. They also had the chance to demonstrate their newly learned ukulele skills and join in with some singing. They were all so enthusiastic and Mrs Scaife was incredibly proud of them all.

On Saturday a number of staff and family members survived the challenge - it was fun but surprisingly hard! The money raised will go towards our new 'Scrap Shed' which will enhance our outdoor play provision even further

Please look out for the next fundraising event involving all pupils during Sports/Healthy Schools week.

Sporting Update Sporting Update

Cross-country

A massive well done to all of our cross-country runners who did amazing in the heat. Special mentions to Milo who came joint 1st and Savannah, Harlan and Ethan all claiming second place. Well done to everyone.

Football

It was an extremely hot schools World Cup finals yesterday at Goals Bradford.

These boys were outstanding once again, winning their group and qualified for the knock out stages. Unfortunately they just missed out, being knocked out in the semi finals, but finished 3rd overall. These boys only lost 1 game the whole tournament - an amazing effort - they should be extremely proud of themselves. This was one of the best football tournaments we have attended, all games competitive, but played in great spirit.

Here’s what we know, what’s still to be confirmed and what families can do in the meantime. A reminder that all of our guides can be found on the online safety page of the website.
