LCMS Student Essay Winner
This year marks the 10th anniversary of the LCMS Counseling Dept. hosting the group, “Straight Talk About Cancer”, known as STAC. We are fortunate to have Mrs. Christina Wise from Cancer Support Community Greater Philadelphia to facilitate these groups over the years.
Each year CSCGP holds the Ben Strauss Youth Program Essay Contest. Teens from Montgomery, Bucks, Chester, Philadelphia, and Delaware Counties who have faced or are facing cancer in their lives, are invited to write an essay about their experience. The essays go through a rigorous judging process, one of Log College Middle School’s students was a winner!
It is with great pride that CSCGP has named Haneen Mighri as Honorable Mention in our 2024 Teen Essay Contest for Middle School Students. Haneen is a 7th grade student at Log College Middle School.
With great courage and determination all the authors wrote of their experiences in dealing with cancer. It’s tough being a teen couple with the stress and fear of cancer in their lives makes it more profoundly difficult.
We are so proud of Haneen and her accomplishment!
6th Grade Science
During our exploration of Rock Formations in 6th grade science, students modeled the process of weathering by breaking down large pieces of jolly rancher candy into “sediment.” The tiny pieces of jolly ranchers or sediment were then compacted through applied pressure from student hands and heavy books. As a result, the students created their own sedimentary rock! Thanks to this hands-on lab, students could visualize a process that can take thousands of years to happen in nature!
Spring Sports Update
Spring sports are well underway. Log College's baseball team is currently on a two-game winning streak with victories over Lenape and Holicong. Girls Soccer also jumped into the win column with a victory over New Hope.
Outstanding Educator Award
Log College's own Mrs. Michele Mielziner was recognized as a recipient of the Centennial School District's Outstanding Educator Award. Mrs. Mielziner has been a member of the LCMS faculty for over thirty years, providing students with rigorous and excellent instruction in Reading and Language Arts. This award is well-deserved.
8B Team Day
A number of classes took a breath after the conclusion of PSSA testing by getting some fresh air. 8B shared a nice photo.
5th Grade Information Night
A number of parents/guardians and students visited Log College on Thursday night for an information session, a tour, and a chance to purchase some Log "swag" from the school store. If you missed it, the slideshow is on our website. Also, we will have a similar presentation just before school begins in August. (Much more info to come this summer).

PIAA sports physical -
All students must have a completed PIAA physical (dated after June 1, 2023). The physical forms can be downloaded from the link - PIAA Physical Form - Updated 3/22/23 (or you can pick one up from Mr. Corey, our athletic director or any LCMS coaches).
If you have already played a sport in the Fall/Winter, you do not need to complete a new physical, but you must re-submit section 7 (Re-certification by parent/guardian) from the PIAA physical form. This page does not require seeing a doctor or medical provider.
If you did not submit a PIAA physical in the Fall/Winter, you must complete Sections 1 to 5 within the PIAA sports physical packet. This must be completed and signed by a parent or guardian. Section 6 must be completed by an authorized medical examiner (family doctor, urgent care, minute clinic). You can ignore pages 7-8.
If you cannot find an appointment time with your doctor, you may use another provider or visit a CVS Minute Clinic or visit an Urgent Care center. The Centennial School District has a partnership with Liberty Urgent Care:
If you use any of the following Liberty Urgent Care centers and mention Centennial SD, your physical will only cost $20. (Locations listed below)
